Whilst I will always love unusual and alternative color palettes (like this elegant black & white theme for a barn wedding) there can only be one trio of colours for an Independence Day wedding! As well as being patriotic, red, white and blue is a bold, bright and fun choice for a Summer wedding. But done right, it can also be elegant, and completely charming when layered with a few rustic details.

To retain an elegant look, keep the colours rich and dark, and layer luxurious fabrics like velvet and chiffon on top of the more casual linens and wood. Choose floor length gowns for your gals, and 3 piece suits for the groomsmen – also great for Summer because jackets can be removed and a formal look maintained with the vests!

Florals of course should be seasonal and splashes of pink could be added for a yet more romantic look. For a hot Summer’s day I love the idea of a lighter wedding cake, without the traditional heavy icing, whilst making it red velvet will give it a little wow. And what could be more in keeping with the season than topping it with handfuls of fresh berries??

A romantic take on a 4th of July wedding, don’t you think? If you’re planning an Independence Day wedding then you might also want to take a look at this chic take on a holiday wedding, and this retro Summer wedding inspiration in the same vibrant, and patriotic, color palette.
