Midsummer Monochrome – Barn Wedding Inspiration in a Chic Black & White Color Palette

After the much anticipated royal wedding last month, and Megan’s much talked about wedding dress, the wedding world – including me – has been obsessed with all things understated. And that is what inspired today’s wedding inspiration board… that and my continued love of barns as venues!

An unexpected color palette or theme for your chosen venue can make a real style statement, and so when creating this barn wedding inspiration board I chose an elegant look rather than rustic; and in a chic monochrome palette, with a hint of greenery, in place of the more traditional vibrant shades associated with Summer. There is a reason that a black & white color palette is a classic! It just never fails to look stylish, a little opulent and utterly timeless.

Whilst this board is most definitely designed for a contemporary wedding, I layered some modern-vintage charm and a nod to eras past with the simply beautiful calligraphy stationery suite, the vintage engagement ring and the hint of a finger wave in the bride’s hair. This board is also not short of glamour with champagne on ice, those oh-so-sparkly bridal shoes and the dapper groom in his tux.

But whilst I created this board with a barn wedding in mind, when it comes to settings and venues, this color palette couldn’t be any more versatile! Be it mountainside, overlooking a lake, on a beach or in the middle of nowhere; the most important thing to re-creating this look for me, is to be somewhere that is traditionally more casual, relaxed, informal or dare I say it even rustic! Whatever setting or venue you choose, just make the decor and details as elegant and understated as possible, and keep to the monochrome color palette, and you are guaranteed to create a day no guest will forget.

Well I hope you love this stunning take on a barn wedding as much as I do. But if its early days in your wedding planning process and you want to see more wedding colours and inspiration boards perfect for Summer you will find lots in CVB’s archives!
