Stunning Regency Wedding Editorial from Piedmont, ItalyDI LUCE E D'OMBRA PHOTOGRAPHY
Today’s wedding inspiration shoot is set in the stunning Monferrato region, north Piedmont, Italy; and takes us back to one of my favourite periods: the Regency era. A time of elegance, chivalry, brocade, empire silhouettes and of course Jane Austen! And set in a magnificent 18th Century villa with ornate plaster details, high painted ceilings, beautiful gild work and rich wall papers; it is like walking into the pages of Price & Prejudice…..
Here is a little more about the shoot in the words of wedding planner, Greta Betton…. “The idea behind this shoot was to bring back the feeling of the early 19th century, particularly the Regency era, with all its subtle elegance. Following the historic theme, the color palette is mainly blue with a hint of violet in reference to Pantone’s color of the year, with golden accents and elegant greys.
The venue is Villa Pravernara, built in 1700, a perfect setting for our shoot thanks to the wonderfully kept rooms that immediately bring us back in time. Our bride moves through the Villa wearing a crepe de chine beautifully simple dress with an empire style which played up the historic and romantic feel, along with the small and round all white bouquet and it is accessorised with gold earrings and a statement diamond engagement ring.
The table setting reflected the theme with golden cups to showcase the rich flower arrangements, and the typical blue china that brings the all concept together. The Stationary keeps with the atmosphere thanks to the blue flowers designs and the simple yet very elegant details of the handmade paper enriched by the ribbons and the wax seal.
For the seating chart we decided to create filing drawers filled with flowers to decorate the space, and the extra touch given by the vintage books brings in that romantic Jane Austen novels feel. The ombreé dusty blue cake is decorated with blue, violet and white flowers. To highlight the cake cutting moment we set the area in the Villa’s orangerie, with the stunning windows as a beautiful background.”
A modern take on Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy’s wedding, don’t you think? And I love the color palette! A huge thankyou to everyone involved in this enchanting shoot, and especially to the lovely Daniela of Di luce e d’ombra for photographing it all so perfectly.
