A Sweet Vintage Inspired Wedding with Pops of Red
GLORIOUS MOMENTS PHOTOGRAPHYMorgen & Dillon chose a heartfelt venue in which to exchange their vows and become husband and wife. Morgen explains “My father is the pastor of a beautiful historic church in Commerce, GA that included a nature trail, an expansive patch of greenery and an easily accessible bride and groom prep area. Not to mention the church has a very special place in our hearts.”
Keeping the decor simple, and largely DIY, the couple chose a color palette of mostly white, grey and green with accents of red, an important color to them, as well as hints of copper to compliment a vintage pin Morgen inherited from her grandmother and chose to wear on the day. Throughout the planning process, they didn’t forget what their day meant and was all about.
“The most important thing for us was to try to have fun with everything and not care so much about the details. We skipped having a flower girl or ring bearer mostly because we didn’t know any small children that would be up for the task; we skipped sending out save the dates because we were planning a wedding in six months; we also skipped the bouquet toss and the garter toss because we thought it was a little embarrassing and nobody seems into it anymore at weddings these days. Wedding planning is stressful enough, and we were also determined to spend as little money as possible because the most important thing was that we were going to be married.”
“Dillon landed on a classic grey suit chosen for its timeless stylish appeal. The tan shoes and leather suspenders complemented the grey well and this neutral color palette was able to support the tiny pop of red that he chose for the bow ties.”
“I needed a dress I could move in and breathe in. I knew I wanted a simple frame covered in lace with vintage inspiration but with a modern flair.”
“We loved the letter exchange that we did before the ceremony. Instead of a first look and instead of gifts, we just exchanged letters and prayed together before the event took place.”
“Dillon said his favorite parts included seeing me for the first time as I was walking down the aisle – and getting to dance with everyone at the reception!”
“Our flowers were mostly greenery and included white wild flowers. They also included spots of red to tie into our color scheme and were surrounded by copper ribbon. We wanted and hoped to use bright red poppies as our flower, but unfortunately they do not hold up very well in the heat and outdoors so we used Gerberas instead.”
“Our wedding cake was made by our cousin, Rebecca Harper of Becca Ann Bakes. It was a delicious marble cake with copper and white frosting.”
“Most of our wedding was handmade and DIY. This included the invitations, signs, centerpieces, and decorations. We also had my brother MC and my dad even built the dance floor himself.”
Pearls of wedding wisdom from the bride…
“We highly recommend premarital counselling as you prepare for the big day. There are a lot of big conversations that need to take place and high stress levels as wedding planning takes place. It is easy to get swept up in the event and the food and the flowers and forget about the other person (your future spouse) and the important, live changing decision your are making together. We also recommend asking other people for help in prepping for the big day. It helps lower your stress level, gets tasks off your plate, and allows you enjoy this time verses running around and worrying about little things.”
Tell us a little about your photographer…
“Our photographers were amazing and did such a incredible job. Gloriana, owner of Glorious Moments Photography, and I knew each other from years ago, and when she heard I was engaged, reached out to me to both congratulate me and offer her services. Her wedding package was beyond a fair price and she was prompt and detailed with her contracts keeping me on track and making my life 1000% easier. She went above and beyond for us scheduling an engagement shoot, meeting with us in person multiple times to plan the ceremony, find out what was important to us, and just to get to know us a little better as a couple. She went above and beyond the day of the ceremony, bringing an extra photographer in, keeping us on schedule, making me feel beautiful and confident.
She captured all the pictures we wanted and was able to capture little details that make looking back on that day even more special. She was professional and kind and knowledgable and considerate. After we were married she and her husband invited us over for a preview session that included a short video and recommend printing options in case we wanted to order large prints or make a photo album. And then to top it all off, she gave us more photos that we originally thought we were going to get ahead of schedule! And…she even gave us a christmas present this year. An ornament to go on our tree that wished us a Happy First Christmas. Above and beyond. Amazing work. We would recommend Glorious Moments to anyone.”
