A Romantic Vintage Spring Wedding with a Marquee Reception
Oh do I have just the post to brighten your Monday morning! It is absolutely guaranteed to start your week in the most beautiful way, because today’s romantic vintage wedding is heavenly! Beautifully captured by Elizabeth Fogarty, Kevan & Michael’s intimate and oh-so-pretty celebration, really is lovely from start to finish – the palette alone is sure to have you swooning……
Kevan described her wedding planning journey as ‘very detailed orientated’ and it shows! From months collecting mismatched china and handmaking pink flowing table runners for the marquee reception, to hiring vintage VWs and having a special cake baked for her groom, Kevan carefully considered every little detail of her big day and planned it to perfection. Casual yet elegant, and relaxed yet impeccably styled, she knew just what was important and that was creating a day that was theirs, and finishing it as husband and wife – everything else was just the icing on top.
And the planning process all started with picking the most perfect date “We got married on my mom’s birthday who had passed away a few years ago. We thought it would be a nice way to honour her and I jokingly said it was really just her birthday party! :)” Such a lovely idea! And I am quite sure Kevan that your Mum would have been proud of your celebration!
Before we dive head first into every delightful detail, a few words from the photographer, Elizabeth Fogarty: “Kevan and Michael had a beautiful vintage wedding at Rockland Estate. A love for Kevan’s collected treasures and heirlooms were a base for the wedding design, and everything else just played off of those key elements. The bride’s romantic tulle gown and the groom’s relaxed trendy suit were the perfect mix to balance each other out to create a classic and vintage vibe.”
“We got married at Rockland Estate, which we found by word of mouth and instantly fell in love with the historic stone estate and its beautiful grounds.”
“My bouquet was full of peonies, roses, hydrangea, ranunculus, queen annes lace. My florist is actually a family friend that made my flower dreams come true with everything at the wedding. I told her I wanted soft colors of pale pinks, yellows and touches of other spring tones and she went above and beyond to make sure it looked exactly the way I wanted for our big day.”
“Michael wore his favorite navy pants paired with a vintage jacket and vest. The groomsmen wore grey pants, leather shoes, and chambray shirts. The ties were all Liberty of London floral fabric made by Stag Handmade.”
“We had our doggies at the wedding. Lola (black short haired Chihuahua) and Koda (white long haired Chihuahua) were our dogs of honour and walked down the aisle. They really mean so much to us! Lola wore a flower wreath and Koda decided she was too cool to wear hers ;)”
“My Dad walked me down the aisle and it was actually a lot calmer than I imagined. He probably had a lot to do with that – Mm dad is the most laid back guy! In fact I think the groomsmen might have had a little too much fun with him at the reception!”
“My dress was an Allure Bridal gown. I saw it on a TV show a few months before we actually got engaged. After Mike popped the question I knew I had to see the dress in person. I went and saw it twice before buying – it was the first and last dress I tried on. The champagne color made me feel beautiful. My complexion is pretty fair, so I was nervous a white dress would make me feel extra pale. This dress made me feel like my true self. The lace was so soft and delicate and felt so comfortable on my skin.”
“We had vintage VW’s parked outside our reception from Cooker’s Vdubs because Mike loves VWs! So when I found out that Cookers had a bus and a PINK bug available for our wedding I had to have it. And at the end of the night we rode off in the bus to our hotel.”
“The reception was in the marquee in the grounds of Rockland Estate. Farm tables were draped with hand dyed table runners that I made leading up to the wedding, on top multiple planter boxes of flowers and candles. Leading up to our wedding I collected vintage mismatched china for our reception. It was a lot of work but in the end I love the way it looked. The flowers at the reception were honestly my favorite part of our reception! We dyed and white washed flower boxes to use for our big day. I wanted as much flowers as I could fit on the table, so each box was packed full of more peonies, roses and queen annes lace.”
“Our cake was created by Megan at Cakes by Megan. We had 3 tiers and 2 different flavors, strawberry shortcake and mojito to go with our taco menu! For the groom’s cake, I asked Megan to make a VW bus. Mike loves VW’s so it was a no brainer for me. It was so nice to surprise him and show him at the reception!”
“I had 4 wonderful bridesmaids although only 3 made it to the wedding due to an emergency. They were my 4 best friends that have all known me various amounts from a few years to my entire life. I gave them free reign on what they wore as I really wanted them to be comfortable. I just asked that they be long and in the following tones, dusty pink, dusty mauve and champagne.”

Tell us a little bit about your photographer…..
“Liz, Anne and Gavin from Elizabeth Fogarty’s team were so amazing! We spent a good amount of time searching for the perfect fit photographer and we found absolutely found that in Liz! She appreciated our desire to have our details documented just as much as our love story. She coached us in making sure our photos together looked comfortable and natural. She captured things that we didn’t even notice the day of. We are so grateful for Liz, Anne and Gavin! These photos will definitely be cherished!”
Congratulations to the beautiful Kevan and her handsome hubby Michael, wishing you both a lifetime of happiness.
