The inspiration for this summer-into-fall wedding inspiration shoot was the new rustic barn venue, The Barn at Wagon Wheel Farm. But rather than the traditional rustic farm details, the creative team of local vendors from Chicago and southern Wisconsin, juxtaposed the setting with mid-century modern flair, to create something unexpected yet contemporary and utterly charming….

Here’s the lady behind the lens Lisa Kathan with these words about how it all came together…. “This incredible wedding day inspiration by Elliestyled was featured at The Barn at Wagon Wheel Farm , which opened in July 2018. This family farm in Burlington, Wisconsin, is completely rustic in its aesthetic, including a large barn for receptions; an original mid-1800’s farm house for the bride to get ready; a perfect long porch for wedding day brunches; a beautifully textured Milk Parlor, which we featured as a ceremony space; and something we’ve rarely seen, a small barn dedicated for the groom and his men! What makes this property so special are the owners, Chelsea and James, who’ve taken special care to upgrade their family’s farm with modern amenities while keeping the pastoral charm, even designing a stunning winding staircase built into the silo of the barn.

The dynamic floral palette evokes a sun-drenched and bohemian nostalgia, perfect for a Midwest autumn wedding. The shoot was built around the playfully sophisticated ochre and mustard tones of hand-died silk ribbons with Ranunculus, Dahlia, Kangaroo Paws and Pincushion Protea, and anchored by an unfettered flat willow branch. The color story included Berzelia Brunia, Leucadendron, Kale, and Eucalyptus pods and softened by the creamy whites of the papery Poppy and cloud-like Dahlia.

We took advantage of the beautiful spaces and light to tell a romantic and stylish wedding day story with incredible details: gorgeous letterpress invitations, “his and her” vow books; an eclectic groom’s space; a perfectly unique ceremony backdrop for the intimate ceremony; and a chic, mid-mod cocktail hour hosted by the couple in the rustic barn.”
