A Rustic & Romantic Fall Wedding with a Greenhouse Reception
EMILY MAGERS PHOTOGRAPHYWe’re off to Canada for today’s beautiful wedding; where, with the help of friends and family, Sara & Daniel created a meaningful venue from the bride’s childhood backyard – her family farm. Combining the rustic charm of the setting, with fall florals and plenty of DIY details to create the most romantic wedding with a magical reception in the old working greenhouse….. it must be seen to be believed!
The couple shared….. “As soon as we got engaged as well as a bit before, it was decided we would get married on Sara’s family farm in southern Ontario, Canada. With Sara moving to Australia right after the wedding, the time leading up to our day was meaningful and filled with love and time well spent. Sara’s family and friends came together to tidy up the property and turn it into a venue that people now ask if we will be renting out. The family farm is now just for hobby agriculture, and what used to be the old glass cucumber greenhouses turned into our wedding venue.
Our vision was for everyone to have the best and most relaxed day celebrating with each other, so we set up lawn games, a popcorn bar, and a GIN bar with gins from all over the world for people to relax between the time of the ceremony and reception..
All our family and friends from both Australia and Canada worked so hard days before our wedding… it was a family affair and it turned out to be the best day. We had the perfect sunny day in mid September, and a mild summer evening breeze as we danced the night away under the string lights of the dance floor and bonfire near by. It was the best day, and turned out even better than what we could have imagined.”
“Our wedding was intimate and small, with under 100 guests — we wanted to be surrounded by our family and our closest friends. We were married by Sara’s uncle and Danny’s dad spoke a short sermon at the ceremony. We wrote our own vows, much of which was composed of thoughts and promises we often sent to each other during our long distance relationship.”
Daniel and his groomsmen looked dapper in their slate suits with burgundy bowties. I love how the couple chose a slightly darker shade of suit and shoes for the groom.
Whilst Sara’s bridesmaids looked beautiful in full length dresses from Davids Bridal in the perfect shade for fall, burgundy.
How stunning is the organic shape and mix of blooms in Sara’s bouquet by CJH Florals?? Especially those dark and moody dahlias and trailing Amaranthus.
For the reception details from around the property were used for decorations… old doors, pallets for the dance floor, old wine barrels, and a pathway under the pines to lead you to the reception greenhouse.
And guests were treated to some delicious delights including a gelato bar, a gluten free dulce de leche cake, and a tower of macarons… my mouth is watering at just the thought of it!
And of course the day didn’t end there, with dancing long into the night under string lights, a bonfire to snuggle and drink gin round, and a sparkler exit to send off the happy couple…. so, so perfect!
Don’t you think? As always a heartfelt thankyou to the happy couple, Sara & Daniel, for allowing me to share their day and to their photographer Emily Magers for capturing the special moments, romance and beauty of it all so perfectly!
