Boho Vintage Weddings
A Romantic, Boho-Vintage Wedding with Rustic Charm and Monarch Butterflies
BLESS PHOTOGRAPHYToday’s Australian wedding is filled with the most stunning native florals and DIY details. I fell instantly in love with the relaxed style of the happy couple Kristina & Josh and their bridal party, which embodies a modern vintage and boho vibe that perfectly suits their romantic rustic setting. Their outdoor ceremony takes full advantage of the lush Australian bush and lovely grounds at groom Josh’s family home…..
After being introduced at the tender age of 16, by their Mum’s no less, and getting engaged at the very tip of Cape York during a romantic two month holiday around Queensland, Kristina & Josh set about creating a celebration that reflected the couples interests and relaxed personal style. Kristina explains, “A lot of the inspiration for the wedding was taken from our everyday lives. My mother in law has been collecting antiques for many years and both josh and I have developed the love for them as well. We wanted to create a romantic yet relaxed outdoor atmosphere, which we could achieve on Josh’s parents beautiful rural property.”
And like many couples they wanted to achieve their dream wedding, as well as wow their guests, without breaking the bank – and I think after seeing the photos you will agree the certainly did, with a little help from their nearest and dearest. “I tried to stick to a budget. It wasn’t always easy but it did help with the planning. Having some DIY projects (ceremony seats, arbor, veil, flowers, and invites) using the help of family & friends and using Josh’s family property helped to cut costs in some ways.”
With lots of steal-worthy details and ideas, be sure to have your pinning finger ready!
“My dress was from A Brides Blessing. We had been to 3 other dress shops that morning but once I tried my dress on, I fell in love with it! I didn’t get it that day just as I was unsure and wanted to think about it, but that was it! – I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I went back first thing the next morning to buy it! I wore Josh’s grandmother’s necklace & my grandmother’s rings. Everything complimented one another perfectly. I looked exactly how I wanted & felt so good wearing it.”
“I wanted natives for my bouquet my aunty Marie was my florist and she did a wonderful job. The beautiful purple flowers she used we picked straight from the bush just near our place.”
“Josh, his dad Rob and some good mates built the arch, seats for the ceremony and the doors for the entrance into our reception area.”
“Josh & the boys wore suits from YD – these complimented the rustic style of our wedding. They all wore different super hero socks as a fun & personal touch!”
“I loved the whole day but I would say my favourite part would be our ceremony. Standing in front of all our family and friends and marrying my best friend was just perfect.”
Pearls of wedding wisdom from the bride…
“We are very lucky to have such wonderful family and friends that helped with whatever we needed in the whole wedding planning and on the big day. If you can have as many friends and family involved in the day and setting up it will help relieve some of your stress and make everyone feel included.”
“I wanted a naked cake and Love at first slice did a wonderful job. The cake was exactly what I wanted and was delicious. We topped it with a personalised cake topper from Glistening Occasions that included us with our dog, Woody.”
Tell us a little bit about your photographer…
“My photographer, Tamar, is a friend I worked with before she started full time photography. I love her work! Everything I have seen from her is always beautiful. Both her and her husband ,Matt, (2nd photographer) helped make the day seem so easy.”
