English Garden Wedding Inspiration at Shuttleworth Mansion
NIKKI'S MOMENTS PHOTOGRAPHYToday’s styled shoot took place at the Shuttleworth Mansion House, a Victorian mansion with Downton Abbey-esque grandeur and the most stunning grounds, perfect for creating the quintessential English country garden wedding. With a touch of whimsy, reflected in the tea length floral bridesmaid dresses, floral painted wedding cake and paper craft decor, but no shortage of olde world romance, this editorial is a fun take on vintage….
The team are here with these words about their creative collaboration….. “The venue was the real inspiration behind the theme of the shoot and Fleur de Lace’s floral design and styling as it was steeped in British history. Knowing we were going to use the 1923 Leyland Single Deck ‘The White Rose’ Bus in the shoot, it’s ageless beauty and it’s gorgeous rose logo saw the introduction of vintage florals within the tinware and styling. With using the bold colours in the tinware for the flowers we opted for a more neutral palette, of white potted Candied Tuft (Iber Sempervirens), White Eustoma, and other small blooms mixed with baby blue Eucalyptus and succulents. The Tablescape holds a more sculptural feel than simple flowers in a tin with the curves of the twigs and overhanging paper garlands, it’s a great way to add height but without obstructing your guests views.
For the brides look, the modern English rose make up and hair was inspired by the glamorous brides of the pin up era highlighting clean, flawless skin with defined lashes and red lip. This complimented her dress with the look of a nipped waist, full skirt with lace peplum detail and a sheer sleeve. (Emma Domb 1950s lace and tulle dress with matching bolero jacket.)
I used a ruby lipstick tapped in to create a more modern relaxed version of the iconic red lip. Add lots of individual false lashes and lashings of mascara to complete the look.
Each supplier bought a great translation of the classically vintage ideas, with the prints of the bridesmaid dresses, the florals on the cake and stationary through to the brides look and all captured beautifully through Nikki’s Moments Photography lens. The results of the shoot were awesome and truly inspirational.”
A huge thankyou to everyone involved behind the scenes of this lovely editorial, but especially to Nikki’s Moments Photography who captured every detail so perfectly. Now if this has you dreaming of an historic venue for your wedding, then you should take a look at Victoria & James’s timelessly romantic wedding at Orchardleigh, this elegant Winter affair at Hampshire House, or this olde world wedding inspiration at The Hollywood Castle. And this modern vintage beauty at Swan House is not to be missed!
