Love Is Sweet – Ideas for a Valentines Inspired Wedding
Valentines Day (already – I can’t believe how quickly this year is flying!) I have high hopes for lots of happy couple and engagements today 🙂
Of course every Valentines Inspiration board has to include a nice bright Scarlet. I went for a light turquoise and a soft fuschia to go with mine – maybe slightly controversially (red and pink?), but I like it.
Beetle Image via Flickr, Coca-Cola Bottle Lids via Style Me Pretty, Invitations – Bella Figura Joy, Veil & Makeup via Powder Blue Bijoux on Etsy, Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes via Style Me Pretty, Heart Shaped Balloons, Valentine via Pinterest, Heart Sticks via Pinterest, Bouquet via Martha Stewart Weddings, Bunting – Mara May on Etsy, Locket – Stella Saves the Day on Etsy, Red Shoes – Tea & Cakes from Irregular Choice, Red Dress – Mod Cloth,
This is a funky and retro inspiration board for a cool, relaxed wedding (maybe a garden wedding) pulling ideas and icons from the 1950s and 1960s – like Cocoa Cola as a post ceremony reception drink, the iconic beetle as the transport, bows, bunting and balloons for decorations.
For the bride’s dress, it could be short or long but it should be fun, with flair and a fifties edge. Designs by Moonlight have 3 of the best short, 1950s inspired wedding dresses in their destination section. My favourite being this ever so slightly Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face-esque design……
Usually Jenny Packham is all about the long and the languid, 1920s and Art Deco inspired intricately adorned gowns, but ‘Nymph’ from her 2012 collection is a super cute dress with an illusion neckline, belt accentuated waist and full, short, tulle skirt……
…..perfect, for a wedding with a nod to the 1950s.
The bandeau bodice with flower adorned tulle skirt of this Aire Barcelona design is so pretty!
I love this Jesus Peiro design, with pockets!! The flower adorned belt and illusion bateau neckline – its elegantly modern with enough of a hint of the 50s to make it timeless……
Or for a bride on a budget I recently came across the fabulous Dolly Couture online and picked this oh so pretty design from the oodles of 1950s inspired dresses they create, with its cute, full, tulle skirt and flower adorned bodice for just $595 USD…..
and the best thing about Dolly Couture, along with the price, is that their designs are customisable!
Floor and tea length 1950s dresses are the most popular on the Chic Vintage Wedding Dress board on Pinterest and I can see why.
Happy Valentines day everyone!
