A Land of Snow and Ice – Enchanting Winter Wedding Inspiration

Sarah Glick Photography

Whilst you are in the midst of Spring and looking forward to the balmy bliss of Summer, here in New Zealand Winter is coming, and we’re rugging up ready for it! So, today’s inspiration shoot from Sarah Glick Photography couldn’t be any more perfect as a timely reminder of just how beautiful Winter – and weddings in this season – can be…..

I will let the lovely ladies from behind the lens, Sarah & Georgia, tell you all about it – they have such a lovely way with words that brings their vision to life just as much as their photography does! “As a full time photographer in the land of snow and ice, I feel a specific itch to get my hands on a camera during the unforgiving yet beautiful winter months. I daydream of a time when Wisconsin couple’s begin to consider December and January the perfect months to set the date.

To showcase what Milwaukee artists can do with a winter wedding and inspire couples everywhere to consider a wintery date, Sarah Glick Photography collaborated with a group of fabulous local business owners to make this gorgeous, winter bridal shoot a success. Details inspired by winter in Wisconsin included sequins and sparkle, fur pillows and vintage coats, antique furniture and accessories, blueberry tarts and vintage milk glass.

The styling was a touch bohemian with plenty of modern accents and vintage details, all set within Milwaukee’s most incredible wedding venue overlooking Lake Michigan. The blue-ombre wedding gown and sapphire sequined, cowl-back bridesmaid gown were handcrafted by Milwaukee’s best modern dress designer, Mink Maids. The fabulous velvet furniture, cowhide rug, glittered pillows, milk glass and dish ware were brought into Villa Terrace by Milwaukee’s premier vintage rental service, Relics Vintage Rentals. The ladies at Relics and Sally at Milwaukee Flower Co. worked like rock stars to style each setup to perfection for this shoot.

We hope that an inspiring shoot like this may highlight some of the unique and amazing things a couple’s talented vendors can do with a winter wedding date. Rather than bright bouquet’s filled with pink, imagine winter blooms, silvery greens and berry accents. Instead of warm, rustic vessels for your centerpieces, imagine elegant milk glass with monochrome white blooms. And what better time of year to throw furry pillows on chairs and serve blueberry desserts than in Winter? Bride’s are constantly searching for unique ideas for their special day, or checking up on the newest wedding trends – here in Wisconsin we hope to see an emerging trend of uniquely styled, snowy weddings filled to the brim with warm comforts and a bit of sparkle. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!”
