Rustic Vintage Weddings
A Meaningful Rustic Vintage Wedding at Swann Plantation
ERIN MORRISON PHOTOGRAPHYToday’s oh so romantic wedding was filled with meaningful details and sentimental family elements: bride Amy wore her mother’s vintage wedding dress that she wore back in 1979, and they exchanged their vows in the groom’s family church. And then they celebrated the start of their marriage with a rustic reception at Swann Plantation, a beautiful vintage wedding venue at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains….
After meeting through work as nurses at a hospital in Knoxville, TN, Amy & Justin got engaged whilst hiking Half Dome in Yosemite National Park and their love of the outdoors is present throughout their day – from their choice of reception venue to their moss table runners and edible favors.
Keeping the decor relaxed and rustic the couple chose a pretty color palette of dusky green, blue and pops of pink, which has to be one of my favourites – and it worked so well with each of their venues! Amy shared the special meaning behind their choice of ceremony venue… “We got married in a church built in 1902 which is located in the community the groom’s mother’s family grew up in.”
There is so much to love about their day, and not least the beautiful photography by Erin Morrison, so sit back and enjoy…. with your pinning finger ready!
“I decided to wear my mom’s wedding dress from my parents wedding in 1979.”
“The bridesmaids wore evergreen & for our bouquets I chose various shades of pink and white mixed with eucalyptus. Justin and his groomsmen wore cobalt blue suits with light pink ties.”
“We are a very outdoorsy couple so to carry that them into our favors, we had small paper bags filled with trail mix, sealed with stickers that said “and so the adventure begins””
“Our wedding cake was a 2 tiered strawberry cake with cream cheese icing. We also had several other desserts including cupcakes, blackberry pie, cheesecake and cookies.”
Tell us a little bit about your photographer….
“The most important thing to me was the photographer. Other than memories, pictures are the one thing you will always have to cherish. Erin was beyond amazing to work with. She photographed a friends wedding & she was the 1 person I knew I wanted incorporated in our big day when we started planning. She made us feel comfortable & at ease from the start. She captured our engagement session and wedding beautifully. Our photos were exactly what I envisioned for our wedding day and I will cherish them for years to come.”
Such a lovely and love-filled day! Huge congratulations to the happy couple Amy & Justin, and a big thankyou to them as well as their wonderful photographer Erin Morrison for capturing it all so perfectly and allowing me to share it with you here.
