Glittering Rose – Wedding Inspiration in Shades of Rich Red & Gold

Good morning! How was your weekend? Fabulous I hope! Ours was wet and windy so I spent much of yesterday working, although it hardly felt like work at all – did you see my first Style Icon post of 2014? I enjoyed writing it so much, I think it is going to be the first of many! Well I have quite the week of posts lined up for you, all counting down to Friday of course and Saint Valentines Day. Starting with today’s rather lovely (even if I do say so myself) Inspiration Board…..

Isn’t red and gold just the perfect palette for a Valentines Day wedding or celebration? Red is the colour of passion, desire and love whilst gold is lavish; together they just ooze glamour! Combining shades of red with gold is so wonderfully romantic and dramatic, it is truly timeless, never going out of fashion. So bright and beautiful, these colours would work for any theme or in any venue, but I had in mind a relaxed wedding, with plenty of outdoor celebrating when I pulled together these boards. Create a breathtaking table with an abundance of flowers, centre pieces spilling over (you can keep costs down by using fruit as well as flowers) and simple place settings.

Why not continue the floral theme with your wedding dress (a big trend for 2014) and choose something beautifully textured like the Gwyn from Alice Temperley’s Iris collection…..

Or keep the flower adornments to just one part of the dress, like the long sleeves on her ever so elegant Leigh dress…..

Or for something more bohemian I love these designs from Sarah Seven’s Gold Label Collection, with their structured, boned bodices and loose skirts – and how cute do they look glitzed up with their gold skinny belts?…..

Of course for a more traditional dress in shape but daring colour (and, I promise this will be the last time I mention it, but I do love it so) you could always turn to Vera Wang’s 2013 Collection and choose a red wedding dress…..

All the designs do come in ivory as well if you love a style but not the idea of wearing red. I absolutely love how the ruffles of the mermaid skirt on ‘Kirsten’ look like delicate rose petals, don’t you?

Any brides-to-be planning a Valentines Day wedding? Or, hoping to be asked this Valentines Day? 🙂
