Inspiration Shoots
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Inspired Garden Wedding Editorial
Manya PhotographyToday’s shoot was inspired by the Emmy winning comedy TV series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Putting a mid-century twist on a romantic garden wedding it is a vivid and vibrant take on timeless romance and I absolutely love it!
The lovely Naomi of Bowties & Bouquets shared these words about the creative teams vision when pulling this fun little shoot together….
“This styled shoot was inspired by the TV Show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and was designed to show a modern take on the nostalgia of the 1950s.
The 50’s brings to mind timeless romance full of fun and bold colors including rich jewel tones! There’s something so special about handwritten notes, wax seals and backyard weddings with beautiful petite desserts.
The flowers for this modern take on mid-century needed to be a little bit unique, and different to what you expect to see at weddings these days. This shoot had a very backyard wedding feel so our bouquet and blooms had a hand picked feel. Rainy Day Blooms chose some very beautiful yet unique pieces like Dusty Miller, purple hued Calla Lilly, Common Lilac and Baby Artichokes.
The attire was very much a modern take on 1950’s with a lace overlay dress with minimal train befitting a backyard wedding. For our Groom, we chose another rich jewel tone, a deep green. We wanted to continue the theme of rich jewel tones with his suit and the color of the suit paired so perfectly with the Bride’s bouquet.
Whenever you hear “1950’s”, your mind immediately takes you to a backyard wedding, so with that in mind, the tablescape needed to be rich in tones but simple with minimal decor. We chose rich, jewel toned red napkins, black plates, white and gold plates and gold cutlery with etched goblets. It was designed to be simple luxury.”
I am so in love with this shoot… and must go and watch the Marvelous Mrs Maisel and get my mid-century fix immediately. As always I must give a special thanks to the wedding pros who let their talents to bring it to life and especially to Manya Photography for capturing it so magnificently.
