Top Wedding Trends for 2014
Apologies, this post is more than a little late, but if you follow Chic Vintage Brides on Facebook you know why 🙂 Now, I love New Year, and not just because it is our anniversary! I love the chance to reflect on the year gone by but more importantly to look forward to all the new year may bring. I for one was bowled over by the trends that infused weddings worldwide through 2013: we saw one of my favourite colours emerald sweep the wedding world off its feet; the release of The Great Gatsby set everyone’s hearts a flutter over all things Art Deco, couples looked closer to home for venues and the backyard proved it could be the perfect place to say your ‘I Dos’, mismatched bridesmaids dresses were the best friends of brides and bridesmaids, illusion necklines added a little extra magic to wedding dresses whilst flower crowns and long sleeves continued to be bridal favourites. So, what are going to be the best wedding trends of 2014?……
Rose Gold
I love Rose gold, also sometimes referred to as old gold, for exactly that reason, it hints at an age of elegance and yet can also look completely modern. Its warmth makes it the perfect metallic for brides and bridesmaids (it is so flattering, it suits almost every complexion and colouring) and its rose pink hue gives it a little more romance.

Dazzling Blue
In 2014 I think dazzling blue will take the place of emerald in our hearts – retro or modern, romantic or fun paired with metallics, blush, yellow, red….dazzling blue is every bit as versatile and flattering as emerald. Undecided, or want to see more? Then take a squiz at CVB’s Pinterest board, its full of ideas on how to add a touch of dazzle to your big day.

Capes
More than a worldwide wedding trend this may just be wishful thinking on my part, but I love it anyway! Capes create a demure look, a unique silhouette and better still a change of look for the reception without the expense of a second dress! Perfect for Fall and Winter a feather or knitted cape to keep away the nip in the air, or think delicate lace for Spring and Summer…..

But, just in case you’re wondering, or worried you can’t carry off a cape, it is clear from the 2014 catwalks that long sleeves aren’t going anywhere either! (hooray)

Winter Weddings
I am not sure which came first, our love of long sleeves or our growing adoration of Winter weddings but as trends go there couldn’t be a more perfect pairing! A winter wedding can be rustic or opulent (or both!) just embrace the cold and think of fun ways to keep the chill out – blankets for the ceremony, mulled wine or hot winter Pimms in front of roaring fires, plenty of dancing with hot chocolate and smores to end the night.

Anywhere Goes!
First we had beautifully rustic barn weddings and last year was the year of garden (or backyard) weddings but I believe 2014 will be the year where anywhere goes – woodland weddings, mountaintop weddings, beach weddings, castle weddings…. if you and your loved one can get there, you can be married there!

So brides of 2014, let us hear your thoughts and plans for your wedding! Are you incorporating any of these trends? I am head over heels for each and every one of them, and I can’t wait to see all of your magical 2014 weddings!
