10 Beautiful Summer Wedding Colour Palettes
After enjoying last week’s summery colour palette so much (it was just what I needed to warm me up as temperatures dropped and Winter finally arrived here in New Zealand) I thought I would take a look at a few of my other favourites colour combinations for the season. You see whilst I may have been a Winter bride myself, who doesn’t love the idea of exchanging vows under a clear blue sky in some sunbathed outdoor setting? But choosing the perfect palette for your wedding – colours that compliment your venue, style and theme; as well as hues that your bridesmaids will love, is no easy matter! So, here’s a little inspiration for those of you planning a Summer wedding; some unusual, unique and surprisingly lovely colour combinations for a celebration in the sun…..
Coral Romance
Starting off with one of my favourite colours for Summer, an exquisite coral. Paired with blush and peach it would make for a feminine and romantic wedding, perfect for a floral filled affair. And although most palettes are pretty versatile, suiting almost any venue or theme, I think this coral beauty is best suited to a garden wedding where the lush greenery of Summer will provide the perfect backdrop, letting these gorgeous colours shine!

Ice Blue, Blush & Jade
This heavenly palette just couldn’t be any prettier. The softest shade of blue is so cool for a hot Summer’s day, and how perfect (and super flattering) is it for your bridesmaids?? Keep any greenery muted, like Eucalyptus and lambs ear, to compliment it, then add a hint of blush for just a touch of warmth…..divine!

Bright & Beautiful
Summer is just the season to be bold with colour with some lovely warm brights. And this particular palette couldn’t be any brighter, or more beautiful! But this is a palette that I would definitely leave for the flowers to convey, choosing just one (or two at the most) of the more muted colours featured to weave throughout the rest of your day to allow those richer shades to really pop!

Elegant Neutral
But of course Summer doesn’t have to be about bold colours, or even pretty pastels. It can be understated and chic with just a hint of a kiss from the sun like this lovely elegant palette of neutrals. Rather than brown neutrals, which can look Autumnal, choose varying shades of white with muted greens and a touch of brown (think old church pews or rustic wood dining tables) to ground it.

Strawberries & Cream
Nothing says Summer quite like fresh strawberries and this colour combination just screams yummy strawberries, don’t you think? For a long time I thought pink and red just did not go, but this palette proves I could not have been more wrong. Vibrant, fun and super pretty it is perfect for a romantic affair at any venue (and you can even add some of the berries that inspired it to your floral arrangements like this for a hint of whimsy)

Coral & Mint
The perfect balance of warm and cool tones collide to create the prettiest palette for a Summer wedding! Coral and mint work so well together, whilst the touch of the romantic soft blue adds just the right amount of contrast. Oh and I am just so in love with those lush coral peonies, they would make the perfect choice of flower for this colour scheme…..

Red, White & Blue
Whilst this might be the quintessential colour palette for a Summer wedding thanks to its nautical undertones, I wanted to show it can be so much more by giving it a more elegant and romantic (less relaxed and beachy) feel. You see red, white and blue doesn’t have to be stripes and anchors, it can be roses, linens and suits….. and how perfect for a chic 4th of July holiday wedding!

Greyed Jade & Gold
Whilst greyed jade may not be the first colour you think of, I wanted to show that this shade, especially when mixed with gold, can be a sophisticated choice for a Summer bride. It would be sure to look lovely in any venue, but I can’t help imagining an ethereal beach wedding with hand dyed silk, driftwood and sea glass…..*swoon*

Citrus Brights
A refreshing choice and super pretty this palette really is a feast for the senses! And oh so perfect for a garden ceremony and marquee reception – just imagine mismatched vintage china in the same shades, a bar of citrus flavoured water and croquet on the lawns! Just be sure to keep your citrus shades a little dusky, for a wedding that is gorgeous rather than gaudy…..

Soft Rose & Serenity
Of course in a list full of such lovely colour palettes, I couldn’t ignore Pantone‘s picks for colour of the year Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue! Gentle, delicate and utterly romantic both are beautiful for a Summer wedding, and they look surprisingly lovely together. Especially with a touch of blush and dark blue (think viburnum berries) to avoid your wedding from looking to sickly sweet or like a gender reveal baby shower!….

With so many fabulous colours to choose from, now I wonder how any bride ever picks their palette – I could get married every day of the week and choose a different colour each time 🙂 I think I would go with Elegant Neutrals to start with you!
