Anne of Green Gables is one of those stories that captures the heart, and imagination, of many – me included. And so I am only really surprised that it has taken almost 5 years for me to receive my first editorial inspired by it. But not even in my wildest dreams did I ever think an Anne of Green Gables wedding could look this beautiful…..

Filled with soft warm light, rich fall florals, and a relaxed rustic elegance, this gorgeous editorial shoot perfectly captures the charm of the story as well as the romance of the era. I will let photographer and stylist Anna Scott tell you a little more about it….

“The reason that the story of Anne of Green Gables resonates with so many people is not the Victorian time period or the beautiful writing; it is the feeling of wonder, wistfulness and beauty. It was my vision with this shoot to recreate the mood that L.M. Montgomery breathed into those amazing books while keeping the styles current and relevant.

I wanted to include a gown that was a nod to the Victorian/Edwardian era, yet would still be something a bride would want to wear today. The incredible vintage gown from Shop Gossamer that we settled on was a perfect fit with its gorgeous creamy lace and elegant yet simple lines. The details we chose to go with the gown included some amazing lace victorian boots, a pearl engagement band, and beautiful cameo earrings that all reminded me of Anne.

One of my favorite parts of this shoot was definitely the venue! Hanley Farm is a historic working farm that is owned and run by the Southern Oregon Historical Society. It was built in the mid 19th century and is simply stunning! It looks exactly the way I always imagined Green Gables would look, with its grand front, screened porch in back, and even an original stone cellar.

Everything about this shoot made my heart sing and while I was shooting I felt like I had been transported straight into the story. As the day drew to a close I felt that flutter of sadness you get when you finish a book and wish that there was just one more page. Thankfully, these gorgeous images remain to remind me of every detail.”

“Maddie, our ‘Anne’, and Ryan, our ‘Gilbert’, are dating in real life and have one of the sweetest relationships I have ever seen. Their connection and love is plain in every photo from this shoot and they were simply dreamy to work with.”

“The florals are some of my all time favorites with their rich autumn hues and natural feel. Whilst the cake with its clean lines and minimalistic decor, brings to mind simpler times when love was less complex, and more about working to build a life together.”

Isn’t it just heavenly?? And so absolutely perfect for a Fall celebration – whether you adore Anne of Green Gables or not. I just love the beautiful colours and floral creations!
