All too often I find myself creating boards for outdoor settings, but today I actually had a historic house in mind – a romantic space that would provide a sense of age (although this colour palette would certainly work just as well in a garden or vineyard!) Its delicate tones perfectly suit a vintage celebration, as well as the season and its blooms, and layered with some metallics it would look oh so elegant.

Add to the sense of softness with layers of ethereal fabrics, think flatware wrapped with silk satin ribbons, gossamer thin table cloths or runners, and delicate napkins in the palest of pastels or neutrals. The key to this chic look is in its simplicity, so keep florals, glassware and decor understated.
