Inspiration Shoots
Ballet Desert Wedding Editorial
MADELEINE COLLINS PHOTOGRAPHYCaptured at the stunning Delamar Dry Lake in Nevada, yet featuring the most romantic ballerina brides and elegant styling, today’s inspiration shoot is all about contrasts! The details hint at old world grandeur and the florals are luxurious yet relaxed, whilst the landscape is rugged. All together this makes for the most unforgettable editorial…..
Vanessa of Storybook Weddings & Events is here with a few words about the inspiration behind the shoot…. “The inspiration behind this shoot was from a vision that Photographer Madeleine Collins had to combine an old world themed wedding with the grace and timelessness of a ballerina. We chose to shoot at Dry Lake, NV, just a few miles outside of Las Vegas (and a popular elopement location) as the texture and combination of something so rugged with something so elegant would create the ultimate contrast.
Given the highly textured landscape of Dry Lake Bed, we knew we had to maintain something more clean and neutral with a touch of color. Our color palette mainly consisted of blush pinks, whites and touches of light blues (with gold of course!). A brand new linen from RSVP Party Rentals (named Panama in light pink) was an easy choice for a base – it provided enough color yet still maintained a subtlety which evoked softness.
The flowers had a boho feel to them, especially the extra large, organic shaped bouquet, but with a soft elegance befitting a ballerina. Stacey, from Roots Flowers & Events also accessorized her stunning bouquet with a gorgeous muted blue silk ribbon from Hey Its Oh So Pretty.
Decadent macarons from French luxury bakery Ladurée replaced the traditional wedding cake in this old world inspired shoot. The simple, yet elegant and classic pastry was a perfect touch for this shoot. The macarons were displayed on a beautiful vintage tower we picked up at Home Goods (who doesn’t like a good Home Goods find?!)”
Isn’t it enchanting? I just love the idea of a wedding (or elopement) in the desert. There’s something about the expansive skyline that somehow makes it intimate?! Plus, look at those portraits!! I can’t thank everyone involved behind the scenes enough, but especially to Madeleine Collins who captured it all so beautifully.
