Autumn Blues – Chic City Wedding Inspiration in a Palette of Grey Blues
As my last inspiration board was inspired by a shade from Pantone’s picks for Spring 2016, I thought for this week’s I would look back to their Fall 2015 palette for a colour perfect for an Autumn affair, and re-discovered the beautiful shade of blue-grey that is ‘Stormy Weather‘. But this time, rather than imagining a beach setting, I decided to go with a chic city celebration inspired by Paris…..

Those rooftops photographed by D’Arcy Benincosa capture the perfect palette of slate, grey and neutrals, which formed the basis for this board. Cool colours that hint at decadence and are perfect for an Autumn (or Winter) wedding, especially mixed with bronze and brown to add a little warmth.
The key to this palette looking pretty rather than cold is to mix and layer the shades rather than focussing on just one of each of the colours. Using an assortment of fabrics will do this, and will also add a beautiful richness to proceedings. So create place settings with wooden chargers atop linen tablecloths and ornate vintage cutlery tied with silk ribbon; incorporate velvet furniture, glass serveware and texture wherever possible. Whether you’re planing a destination wedding to Paris or not, these colours are the epitome of chic, so think elegant and opulent decor with chandaliers, mixed metals and lashings of lace for your dress.

Of course if we’re talking elegance and Parisian chic, then it must be a tuxedo or a stylish 3 piece suit for the boys – they will look so dashing! And I am sure you can already tell this is such a beautiful colour palette for bridesmaids too. Choose mismatched shades of grey, or go champagne & gold in floorlength floaty fabrics for a really graceful look.
