Early Autumn Radiance – Rustic Wedding Inspiration in Rich Fall Shades

It sure is starting to feel a lot like Spring here in Hawkes Bay! The blossom has started to bloom and you can just begin to see the buds of new growth on the trees, it is a beautiful time of the year. But I can’t help but feel a little envious of those of you looking forward to Fall – Autumn is absolutely my favourite season! Albert Camus was so right when he wrote “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” And I had that quote in mind when I sat down to create today’s inspiration board…..

Inspired by early Autumn, before all the leaves have turned and fallen, I chose a beautiful bright palette of burnt yellow and orange, but still with a hint of green. If you’re planning a wedding for this time of year, make the most of the beautiful light that always accompanies early Autumn by keeping your celebrations outside. Choose a garden, winery or orchard and let nature be your decor – you will need little else, except perhaps some low strung fairy lights or lanterns for after the sun sets. For a rustic wedding think relaxed dining in front of open fires with simple floral centrepieces mixed with fruit. Whilst you can keep your table simple, add texture in your linen and colour with your stemware for a touch of rustic richness. A dessert table of your favourite comfort cakes and sweets makes a fab and informal alternative to the traditional cake – and offers guests a chance to contribute to your day (and for you to save a few pennies!)

Autumn is somehow the perfect season for a more relaxed (and dare I say rugged?) look for your groom. Smarten up a lumberjack shirt with a bow tie and keep them cosy, as well as add a dash of vintage charm to their look, with a tweed waistcoat. Dark chinos or even cords (for a little texture) make a great alternative to smart suit trousers, and one I am sure your groom and his guys will love! And can you think of a more perfect exit for a rustic Fall wedding than driving off into the sunset in a vintage pickup truck?

Much as I loved that beach wedding inspiration board of heavenly blues I shared last, this is definitely more my style!
