Boho Vintage Weddings
A Greenery Filled Boho Vintage Wedding
Photography - Madeline Druce
Chloe & Brin described their day as a“gorgeously green, modern-vintage, fun-filled wedding” and apart from adding breathtaking and a few other superlatives, I couldn’t agree more! They softened an industrial space with an abundance of beautiful native Australian florals, and added splashes of pink to an otherwise neutral palette for a touch of romance, to create a truly unforgettable day…..
I will let the couple tell you all about it….. “For us, it was all about creating a big party for everyone with good food, lots of drinks, great entertainment and lots of fun!
We knew finding a blank canvas warehouse like Laurens Hall could allow us to inject as much as ourselves into the styling and day as possible. Plus we loved the feel of the space with its original wood stacks, light drenched spaces and industrial backdrop. It was perfetcly suited to adding a layer of romance and prettiness for a clash of styles.”
“I discovered Grace Loves Lace on Instagram and knew there was no one else I wanted to wear. My sister and I travelled from Melbourne to the Gold Coast to try on a selection of gowns and it was settled pretty quickly that the Blanc gown was for me. It was beautiful, refined, but also a little sexy. I felt amazing in it. I then had Sally Rose White Label design a custom pendant earring (clip on, I don’t have pierced ears) and that added the perfect final touch to the outfit.”
“The standout from the entire wedding was the flowers and installs by
Loose Leaf who we found on Instagram, they blew us away with what they created. Our brief to them was a native oval-arch for the ceremony incorporating pampas grass (which we foraged from all over Melbourne!) with pops of pastel colours and a sky-garden full of peppercorn and wattle in the reception hall. For us, Wona & Charlie created the most insanely, beautiful and awe-inspiring arrangements with a strong reference to Australian plants, which was exactly what we wanted. It really made our wedding, it created the perfect ambience, elegance and was just incredible. “
“There were so many, but my favourite was seeing Brin for the first time. He wouldn’t tell me what he was wearing so it was a big reveal for both of us. It was such an amazing, overwhelming feeling of excitement with lots of giggles and having our daughter, Tavi there made it even more perfect.”
“The florals and food we didn’t want to scrimp on. We both love nature and sharing food & drinks with family and friends. So we wanted to make these two elements the hero of the day. We had an amazing grazing station in between the ceremony and reception that came complete with freshly shaved charcuterie courtesy of a meat slicer. Then to kick off the dance floor, an extensive whisky bar with local, Scottish and Japanese whisky was on offer. It definitely did the trick!”
” Sweet Bakes made the cake for my baby shower and I loved what Alicia created. So I went straight back to her to create our wedding cake. We went with a two tiered cake in a pastel pink with flashes of gold dressed in natives. We wanted it to be simple but pretty, and Sweet Bakes nailed it.”
“Our favourite detail was the vintage glassware and whisky bar supplied Betty May Vintage Hire . The business is owned by my mum and sister and we really wanted to include their wares on our wedding day. Although I wanted a more contemporary wedding, having the antique crystal glassware, decanters and tumblers added so much magnificence. The thought and love that went into sourcing each glass and making all the candles was beyond anything we could imagine.”
“To ensure the party really got started, Brin and I filled small bottles with Fireball whisky and personalised them with name tags designed by
Lenny Sunday . Each bottle had to be consumed before food was served. It really got the party started early!”
WORDS OF WEDDING WISDOM
“Your wedding day is about the commitment you’re making to the love of your life and best friend. Yes, all the other things that come with a wedding are lovely and fun to organise, but it’s that lifelong commitment that’s most important.”
“Another amazing Instagram find! Brin and I were immediately drawn to Madeline Druce’s photography style. Especially the big scenery shots. We met over beers and instantly hit it off. We felt incredible comfortable with her behind the camera and the photos really speak for themselves.”
Isn’t it utterly perfect?? All that greenery! As always a heartfelt thankyou to the happy couple Chloe & Brin for allowing me to share their fabulous day, and to their photographer Madeline Druce for capturing is all so exquisitely!
