21 Ideas for a Breathtaking Amethyst Wedding
THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKSToday I’m excited to be sharing the second in our series looking at the meanings behind our most cherished stones. I so enjoyed the first (you can see Garnet in all its glory here if you missed it) and have been looking forward to February ever since. Because February’s birthstone is the beautiful Amethyst, and if ever there was a hue perfect for a wedding, it is this one!
Amethyst has been adored for centuries – and it is easy to see why! In fact ancient civilizations prized the gem more than many that today are considered far more valuable, such as sapphires and rubies – for some time, it was even valued equally with diamonds! Which explains why it makes an appearance in royal jewel collections all over the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels. Nowadays, it is the 6th anniversary gemstone – I hope you’re making a note of these because I don’t know about you, but I would much sooner receive something Amethyst than Iron or Wood!
The stone is thought to encourage calmness, bravery, and contemplation; as well as chastity and sobriety – so not quite as romantic as Garnet then! But the poem published by Tiffany in 1870 suggested….. “The February-born shall find Sincerity and peace of mind, Freedom from passion and from care, If they an amethyst will wear.”
And don’t forget, you don’t have to use the gem alone to bring your Amethyst wedding to life! Sprinkle the beautiful shades of purple they come in throughout your day to give a subtle reference to the sentiments and symbolism. Here’s some ideas to get you started…..

Coloured stones make a great alternative to the traditional diamond, making not only a stylish statement but also costing considerably less per carat – which means more bling for your buck!
