Fabulous Vintage 1950s Wedding & Bridesmaid Dresses from Mill Crest Vintage
I imagine there must be nothing more beautiful than walking down the aisle is a family heirloom. A much loved dress, so elegant and timeless, warn by your mother or perhaps even your grandmother. For those of us who love the style and sentiment, but are not lucky enough to be in possession of one of these treasures though, there is of course an alternative to a more modern wedding dress! And that is Mill Crest Vintage…..
You may remember I shared some of their stunning Art Deco wedding and bridesmaid dresses with you a few weeks ago (if you missed it, you can catch up here) Well I thought this series of 1950s themed Snippets, Whispers & Ribbons was another perfect opportunity to highlight their beautiful authentic vintage bridal gowns and dresses. So, I pulled together a few of my favourite mid-century dresses from their carefully curated collection. These are dresses that I feel epitomise the grace, charm and charisma of 1950s fashion, dresses that evoke the style icons we associate with the era – the likes of Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor! Oh yes, these dresses have it all – the nipped in waists, full skirts, elegant necklines and an incomparable beauty…..
1950s Bridal Gowns
When we recall the 1950s, we often remember the tea length gowns that have come to represent the era. However, when you think of the most iconic brides of the era – Jaqueline Bouvier, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor, they ALL wore full length gowns! With all of the details we have come to love about the 1950s, these dresses are perfect for more traditional or formal weddings, or brides planning to get married during the cooler months…..
1950s Bridesmaid Dresses
Of course for 1950s bridesmaids we’re talking lashings of lace and tulle in pretty pastels, with elegant bateau necklines and tea length skirts!…..
1950s Tea Length Wedding Dresses
But tea length isn’t reserved for the bridesmaids when it comes to this era. Such a sweet and fun alternative to the traditional gowns, tea length dresses are perfect for the bride planning a more informal celebration, or getting married in a smaller venue (in which a full, floor length skirt might look to big), or for brides planning a Summer wedding….. or if you simple want to show off your beautiful shoes!!
Vintage gowns from Mill Crest Vintage range from $500 to $1500. And don’t forget they have pieces dating from the Edwardian era to the 1980s, so there is something at their Lambertville, NJ store for every vintage loving bride – whatever era you love! And for those of us not lucky enough to live just round the corner? Simply pop across to their swish website at www.millcrestvintage.com!
