A Sweet Outdoor Wedding with a Vintage Travel Themed Reception
ONELOVE PHOTOGRAPHYThe romantic charm of an outdoor wedding gets me every single time! Even more so when it is a wedding full of lush Summer blooms, warm sunlight as well as some seriously gorgeous travel-themed styling. And when it is all captured by the wonderful Onelove Photography, well, it is quite simply perfection…..
Wanting to create a space where they could really celebrate their love story with all the people who mean so much to them, Taylor & Grant chose the stunning Ahmanson Ranch nestled in the San Fernando Valley for their relaxed and romantic wedding. Such a beautiful setting doesn’t needs much by way of decor, but they infused it with boho elegance and vintage touches that reflected their personal style and their love of travel, whilst always remembering what was most important for them “Yes, we wanted the decor to be fabulous and the photos to be pretty but really, at the end of the day, we just wanted to invite people into a joy dance with us over the new journey we were getting to start together.”
Full of gorgeous ideas and details yes, but more than that this wedding is so full of love, it’s definitely one you will want your pinning finger and tissues at the ready for….
Grant & his groomsmen looked SO dapper in the Summery blue linen suits…..
The couple started the day with an emotional first look (have your tissues handy ladies, these next few photos really pull at the heart strings!)…..
How lovely do Taylor’s ladies looks in their mismatched dresses?
“We wanted everything about the day to feel really fresh and organic. I went with a design that was pretty “al fresco” with just a touch of bohemian. We utilized a lot of draping fabric and ivy garlands to make that happen – incorporating lanterns and candlelight surrounded by rosemary and lush greens. Then we threw the vintage pops in with gold and lace fabric chargers, globes for our guestbook(s), and streaming fabric for our arch and dessert table. I loved playing with bistro lights and edison bulbs to light the beauty that was already there. Most of all, I love what the aesthetic invited people into – a day to kick off their shoes and enjoy celebrating with us and those around them!”
Awww don’t those smiles just say it all?!
Their reception was perfectly styled to create a relaxed and intimate celebration for them and their loved ones: “We aimed to intentionally create space for our guests to mingle with each other and mingle with US too.”
I love the couple’s vintage globe guest books, don’t you??
“We decided to go with a “farm to table” concept for all of our food and beverages. It was SO fun to see how much our guests loved the unique hors d’oeuvres and buffet selections. Our caterer absolutely blew me away with what she created!”
And as well as the traditional wedding cake, the couple had a further two cakes and the most yummy looking mix of desserts…..
Pearls of Wedding Wisdom from the Bride…
“Wedding planning can be stressful because, no matter who you are, so many worlds are colliding – family, friends, vision, cost. The one thing I would say to you, bride and groom to-be, is to hold on tight to what is most important to you as you plan – what YOU want to honor and what YOU really want your day to be about. Every decision that comes along can all of a sudden feel like it is THE deal breaker of your big day (and can have other opinions that go along with it). But Grant and I learned that you have to decide to hold on to the sweetness of the journey by coming back to your non-negotiables (having all the people you want there? amazing photography? killer stationery? great band?) and letting the other stuff go. And, at the end of the day, you are marrying the love of your life and your best friend. So the stuff that you missed? It’s not the point anyway. Grant and I enjoyed the process so much more when we stopped and took time to dream about our marriage together instead of just the wedding day.
Our vendors were AMAZING and without them our day really would not have come together the way it did 🙂 I think it is so important to hire a team of people who you can really trust as it was all of them in the end that created the space for our most special moments to happen!”
A favourite moment was…
“One of my favorite moments of the day was when, immediately following our first dance, the band BUSTED out into 3 or 4 more songs that had everybody on the dance floor with us shouting and celebrating before dinner even began. It was so surreal to be surrounded by so many that we loved in one space and break through the stuffiness and routine to just ENJOY the night – singing and laughing and hugging so many people who were there to cheer us on. That is something I will never forget.”
Huge and heartfelt congratulations to gorgeous couple Taylor & Grant – there is no doubt your guests loved every moment of your beautiful day! A big thankyou to them and of course to the fabulous Onelove Photography who, as always, captured all the important moments and gorgeous so perfectly.
