A Beautiful Fall Wedding in the Mountains of Montana
Rebecca Hollis PhotographyAfter today’s utterly breathtaking wedding, Montana is definitely on my list of must visit places! Rebecca & George’s celebration is a refined and elegant take on rustic, complete with a simple ceremony that lets their surroundings shine, a horse drawn carriage (Montana style) and the most inviting of reception spaces…..
And if that stunning backdrop isn’t enough of a good reason, beautiful bride Rebecca shared these words about why they chose their venue…. “As a proud Montana native, it was important to me that we marry in the state that I grew up in. George and I spend a lot of time in Montana and have fallen more in love with each other every time that we’ve visited my home state.
We fell for The Ranch at Rock Creek not only because of its obvious beauty, but also because of its integrity in its relationship with the land and the local community. It’s a place that gracefully balances rugged and refined, which reminds me a lot of my husband. The Ranch is also close to my Grandfather, and it was important to me that his journey to the wedding would be easy.
We also wanted to be married in fall—when the leaves and the seasons are visibly changing—so that the style could feel elegant, but rooted in the beauty of season and state. As homage to the history of Montana, we infused Victorian elements and an ethos of the old west.”
“I travelled to Seattle with my best friend and Maid and Honor, where we met my Mother and Sister in Law. Together, we visited quite a few dress hops but could not find anything that was just right. Finally, at The Dress Theory, my best friend pulled out the designer Johanna Johnson. Her heavy silk and timeless cuts worked so well on me. The moment I knew that I’d found my dress when I wasn’t just thinking about how it looked, but how it visually helped to tell the story of George and me.”
“On our first date, my husband found and gave me a beautiful, tiny little arrowhead. I attached that same arrowhead to my bouquet, along with pearls that my Grandmother had worn on her wedding day.”
“Darci Greenwood of Greenwood Events went beyond our wildest dreams in pulling together our arrangements. We wanted the florals to be a balance of wild and polished—reflecting a rich fall palette and neutral tones while still having bits of contrast. Not an easy feat, but they were absolutely perfect.”
“The most memorable moment is walking down the aisle with my father at my side and staring at my future husband. I will never forget that moment.”
The couple were whisked away, wild-west style, in a vintage horse drawn carriage for their portraits, whilst guests enjoyed cocktails on the lawn back at The Ranch at Rock Creek.
And if this beautiful venue hasn’t taken your breath away yet, take a peek at their reception – I have never seen a rustic venue look so elegant, warm and welcoming….
Words of Wedding Wisdom from the Bride….
“Don’t worry about if everyone else is having a good time—they are!— focus on enjoying every moment you can with your new spouse, surrounded by the love and celebration of your closest family and friends.”
