Inspiration Shoots
Runway to Reality with Claire Pettibone’s Beau Monde Collection from Momental Designs
My love of all things Claire Pettibone is no secret (you can see all the Chic Vintage Brides posts showcasing her fabulous creations here) so just imagine my delight when I spied a nothing short of spectacular inspiration shoot on the lovely Kristy from Momental Design‘s blog, using CP’s delightful designs as her muse…. and then I discovered she had created not just one shoot, but three!
I am so excited, and honoured, to be sharing these incredible inspiration photo shoots, infusing key elements of a wedding with all the romance and detail of 3 of the most beautiful designs from Claire Pettibone‘s Beau Monde Collection. In Kristy’s words “Fabric, stitch and sheen all become stationery, wedding cake and floral muse in an effortless mix of mood and palette…..” I adore these shoots! But no words from me can do them justice so I am going to hand straight over to the lady herself Kristy to give you all the details…..
“With a team of Atlanta’s finest, we set out to interpret the modern muss, meets Victorian fuss of wedding gown design that is Ms. Pettibone’s calling card. Three distinct scenes were planned each inspired by a different gown; the Ooh La La, the Genevieve and the Amelie. Stationery, floral, cake and place settings were envisioned to flow with and empower the design details featured in each gown. I first met Claire at NYC Bridal Market in 2011. Quickly I became mesmerized with her materials and execution, sketching my fascinations into 3 new stationery suites, all laying the foundation for this project….
The billowy freshness of the Amelie gown made me dream in muted shades of green, yellow and blush. Words like organic, youthful and soft came to mind…..
For the stationery ornate gold framing with lavishly painted white blooms make quite the sumptuous statement. Rich blush card-stocks shimmered beautifully against the matte paint finish….. You could feel every brushstroke! Sweet surprises are paramount in Claire’s gown designs. Unexpected textures against traditional fabrics or small embroidered moments in unlikely places are just a few of the details that inspired me to infuse similar into the paperie.
Drawn to the classic lines and medallion-like elements of the Genevieve gown I began to develop the details for stationery and beyond…..
This scene began with the dress but this painting soon followed. I lovingly call its the Amy bouquet, named after the very talented and kind Amy Osaba. Weeks before our project I pulled countless images of Amy’s work and created a decidedly Osaba-esque watercolor that inspired much of this shoot…..
Sharon of Sweet Sensations took her design cues directly from my painting to create this masterpiece. Every time I look, I see more detail and delicious artistry ( Occasions magazine obviously agreed as this cake made the cover!!)
What a stunner! Which is your favourite shoot and suite? I think mine has to be Ooh La La, that soft blue is soooo pretty!
Huge huge thanks to Kristy Rice at Momental Designs, for allowing me to share your exquisite shoots, Kristy as always your stationery suites leave me a little speechless, they are absolute works of art! And the other professionals behind the shoot, you have something special, you make quite the team…. and I can’t wait to see more of your work!
