A Relaxed & Rainy Boho-Vintage Wedding in Dusky Pastels
J ELIZABETH PHOTOGRAPHYToday’s super romantic Spring wedding in Missouri had it all: a pretty palette, mismatched bridesmaids, the sweetest flower girl, dapper groom and groomsmen, and a gorgeous reception, as well as rain, sunshine and tornado sirens during the garden ceremony!
Bride Stephanie and groom Jerome, or Jè, planned a romantic boho-vintage wedding that was casually chic and absolutely lovely. Photographer Jenna of J Elizabeth Photography, who was there to capture every last detail, explains “Jè and Stephanie focused on having a location that was outdoor and every detail matched their personality perfectly.
The Old Barn Inn, St. Albans was the ideal place for their relaxed wedding. Everything was in one location: getting ready, ceremony, and reception. Alissa from Style Altar’d kept every detail together and made the day perfect. Flowers and Weeds created the most beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres that matched the romantic boho aesthetic and style of the day.”
Whilst it’s clear from all of the smiles that the couple enjoyed every moment of their day, not everything went quite to plan – no matter how much time, money or planning your put into your wedding, there’s one thing you can’t control on the day, and that’s the weather! Bride Stephanie didn’t seem to mind though “I think the most important thing about the day was having nature be our witness, and we got that – especially with the little tornado :)”
Jenna described the moment, saying “During the Ceremony the sirens went off warning of a tornado, but everyone was so wrapped up in the couples love as they recited their vows that no one left their seats.” It’s clear nothing was going to spoil this couple’s magical day – which is just how it should be!
“Bride Stephanie chose to ditch her shoes and walk barefoot down the aisle with her Dad.”
“After the ceremony during the photos the clouds rolled in behind us before finally opening to a downpour. The bride and groom with the wedding party had a private little cocktail hour instead, and we agreed we’d try again after dinner, when hopefully the rain would have stopped, to take wedding party photos. It was magical.”
“Sure enough, whilst we were eating the rain stopped and so we went outside for photos of the wedding party and then couple portraits and it was perfection. The bride and groom never let anything distract them or upset them. They rolled with whatever was thrown their way and truly embraced the adventure in each moment.”
“They love wine and had a “guestbook” of wine corks for people to sign. Wine corks of which they had collected from bottles of wine they loved.”
Pearls of Wedding Wisdom from the Bride…
“Don’t let other people’s opinions influence you. Do what’s best for you as a couple because, in the end, that’s what’s going to matter! And do not let the stress get to you. It’s just a day after all and you don’t want to ruin days (weeks, or months!)before for the one wedding day.”
