Luxurious Modern-Vintage Wedding Inspiration on the Athens RivieraPHOTOGRAPHY BY GREG FINCK
This Moroccan inspired shoot pairs the romance of eras past, with a modern palette of neutrals and exotic luxury, all bathed in the most beautiful light. The setting, Island Art & Taste sits on the Athens Riviera and its scenic grounds is just one more reason, if you need one, to consider hightailing it to Greece to get married!
Komninos of The Twelve Events shared these words about what inspired this gorgeous Greek wedding editorial….. “Drawing upon the rich textures and patterns of Morocco, our vision was born from our love of vintage handira blankets, hand-woven out of sheep’s wool, cotton and linen by Berber women, embellished with hundreds of mirrored sequins and endowed with blessings for the bride.
To create a unique private dining space, we sourced specialty pieces like a remarkable Rococo Statuary antique chimneypiece with intricately carved floral and rocaille decoration, as well as an imposing screen cartouche bordered by both subtle and high relief floral design with typical English bordered panel and rocaille carved details.
Copious amounts of statement-making Wabara garden roses in blush, creamy peach and ivory were used, as Wabara is a Japanese cultural concept that translates as “the harmony rose” which was exactly what we wish to bring out with our florals.
The fusing of textures was the epicenter of this shoot. Tone on tone decoration, a creamy palette and old world elements were our foundation. Stone colored flatware and royal Stafford Toile transferware added volume, while Be my Guest Weddings created invitation and paper suites made of vellum paper for an ethereal touch. Our cake by Papaspirou was inspired by the exuberance of rocaille decor.
As an elegant bride is always on the look for an eclectic wedding gown, we partnered with haute bridal designer Rime Arodaky whose fashion-forward designs speak to modern brides who challenge the status quo yet covet French savoir-faire and sophistication. We’d be remiss not to pick a pair of bridal heels by Vasillis Zoulias, the Greek designer who has glorified the artisanal aspect of couture and old-school feminity. The subtle backdrops of the Riviera properly played a key role in maintaining that feel we sought after.”
Isn’t it just breathtaking?? The flowers, the palette, the styling….. everything! As always a heartfelt thankyou to all the wedding creatives and professionals involved, and especially to photographer Greg Finck for capturing the romance of the day so perfectly!
