DIY Lavender Lemonade for an Elegant Summer Wedding Tipple
CASSIDY CARSON PHOTOGRAPHYYou might remember the cute as can be Pie Pop tutorial, by Haley of The Bride Link, I shared just before Valentines Day? Well today Haley is back with another DIY project and some more tasty treats. This time something a little more refined for an elegant Summer wedding tipple!…..
If you have been following Chic Vintage Brides for some time, you will already know of my love for all things lavender (so far there have been 3 inspiration boards, 2 styled shoots, 2 bouquet recipes and a lavender farm wedding in the hue!) It’s not just the beautiful and timeless colour of lavender I adore, but also its beautifully soothing scent. I can think of none more refreshing or more perfect to calm your wedding day nerves! And so when Haley offered me the opportunity to share her lovely recipes for a delicious Lavender syrup and Lemonade it is fair to say I jumped at the chance!
Now, before I share the ingredients and directions, I am going to hand you over to the lovely lady herself for a little introduction…..”I had so much fun teaming up with Cassidy Carson to create this lavender-themed food and drink series! First up was a tasty lemonade recipe that uses lavender syrup to give it a unique flavor. Serve this up for a wedding, bridal shower or any party that needs an elegant drink recipe. I love its light purple color and classy feel, perfect for a party full of ladies. Enjoy! – and keep an eye out for a lavender lemon bread recipe that is just delicious for serving along side it! ”
So first up, Haley shares how to make the syrup itself and it couldn’t be more simple, or look more lovely – especially in that little glass decanter!…..
Ingredients
1.5 Cups of Water
1.5 Cups of Sugar
2 Tablespoons of Dried Lavender
(purchase cooking lavender here)
Purple Food Coloring
Directions
Combine water, sugar, food colouring and dried lavender in a pan.
Warm over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat to simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and allow the dried lavender to infuse the mixture for at least 30 minutes.
Return to the heat and bring back to the boil.
Pour through a mesh colander to remove lavender buds.
Transfer the syrup to an air tight container to store.
Use in coffee, yogurt, baked goods, drinks, or anything else in which you want a hint of lavender flavor!
It looks so pretty! Now, for how to create some delicious lemonade from this heavenly syrup…..
Ingredients
1 1/2 Cups of Lemon Juice (6-8 Lemons)
1 1/3 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Water
Lavender Syrup
Lavender for Decoration
Directions
Combine sugar and water and cook over medium high heat until the sugar has dissolved.
Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Cut in half and juice the lemons.
Combine the cooled syrup and lemon juice.
Add lavender syrup.
Stir, taste and adjust if necessary – add more lemon if too sweet, or more sugar if too tart.
Once perfect, garnish with the lavender.
Hmmm, I don’t know about you, but I could just drink a big glass of this now! And it looks so lovely, any guest at a wedding or bridal shower would be impressed! A big thankyou to Haley and Cassidy Carson for creating and capturing such a beautiful DIY project, and for allowing me to share it with you here. If this has left you feeling inspired and crafty, do take a look at Haley’s other DIY creations – the pie pops would be delicious for any occasion and the painted pumpkins make the most wonderful fall table centrepiece! Oh, don’t forget to keep an eye out for that scrumptious sounding Lavender & Lemon bread recipe, here’s a sneak peek to get your mouth watering…..
And do pin and save this post, ready for the weekend, before you go!
