Snippets, Whispers & Ribbons
Stunning & Scrumptious Summer Wedding Cake Ideas
Today’s Snippets, Whispers & Ribbons was exactly what I needed on this overcast and cold Winter’s day here in Hawkes Bay. Full of delicious looking wedding cakes perfect for the Summer season, if it doesn’t brighten your day (and get your mouth watering) then I don’t know what will!
1. Fresh Flowers
Whereas for Spring I suggested floral decor of the sweet sugary and edible variety, for Summer I say make the most of the season and go fresh! Co-ordinate the colours and flowers with your bouquets & centrepeices for a chic cohesive look, just be sure to check with your florist that none are poisonous!

2. Summer Strawberries
Few things say Summer quite like fresh strawberries, and they make the scummiest, prettiest and easiest-to-DIY decor for a Summer wedding cake. Whether you’re going naked or iced, simply on top, between layers or around your cake to get your guests mouths watering!…..

3. All In White
Wedding cakes all in white make a timelessly classic choice, whatever your style, theme or colour scheme. Lift with intricate lace inspired icing for an elegant formal look, ruffles or waves or rough butter cream will give you a slightly more relaxed and modern look; or have the icing completely smooth for pure sophistication!…..

4. Croquembouche
I love the recent trend for alternative wedding cakes, and few can be more perfect for Summer than the french Croquembouche – light little balls of choux pastry filled with cool fresh cream, the yummiest possible way to end a hot summers day celebration! Oh and if you had your heart set on cutting the cake, I have seen some Croquembouche towers built on a 1 tier wedding cake base and it looks fabulous!…..

5. Zesty Lemons
Yes lemons! Perhaps not the first choice for wedding cake decor but as well as being the perfect colour, they can look rather fabulous, oozing rustic Mediterranean charm sliced and placed around the sides of your cake or simply placed on top. Add some lemon flavour to your cate too and it will be as refreshing as it is gorgeous!…..
