A Wild Blue Bouquet for a Beach Wedding
Yesterday’s dreamy destination vintage wedding in the hills of Tuscany was so beautiful, it is a difficult post to follow! But the wild blue bridal bouquet from Toni at Magdalen Hill featured in today’s Wedding Bouquet Recipe is utterly gorgeous and up to the task, I am sure you will agree.
Created by Toni (and captured by Natalie McNally) for one of her brides sun filled beach wedding – with a hint of sweet vintage charm; this wild blue bouquet has an olde worlde delicacy but with its wild, just picked look still manages to be completely modern. I love the soft palette of blue, white, cream and purple; the gorgeous texture in the flowers Toni selected and can’t you just imagine how romantic it must have smelled with roses, jasmine and lavender?
I asked Toni to tell us a little more about it “‘Messy, but pretty, and somehow tied in with Paua (Abalone) shells’, were the only details I had when creating this bride’s bouquet for her beautiful beach wedding. Taking inspiration from the surf and sand, the softest muted tones in this bouquet were found in Porcelina roses. Sea holly provided gorgeous, steely blue greys and delphinium matched the clear blue skies perfectly. Loosely based on a sheath-style bouquet , asparagus fern, jasmine and wattle were added to give a casual busyness. White calla and lisianthus gave freshness as well as depth to the collection of blooms, which were relaxed by the inclusion of daisies. Looking gorgeous from all angles, the bouquet was purposely constructed to give the bride flexibility in the way she held it, providing many different looks, from trailing to deconstructed.”
Bouquet Recipe
Budget Key: $$$ ($ – Thrifty – $$$$$ Lavish)
A bouquet for the Bride who: A bouquet in this style is perfect for the casual bride who doesn’t want to fuss or worry about how she holds her flowers, knowing no matter what angle they are captured at they will look beautiful. As well as being perfect for a beach bride, this bouquet would look equally gorgeous for a garden wedding or any relaxed venue for which a round bouquet might look too perfect.
Ask your florist for: A wild, slightly messy sheath-style bouquet that has the flexibility of being held like a trailing or hand-tied bouquet.
Season Available: Summer to Autumn for most blooms, although some are available most of the year round. Talk to your florist because they should be able to advise you on substitute blooms to give your bouquet a similar look and that are available at the time of year you plan to marry.
Such a beautiful bouquet! With its soft shades of blue it really was the perfect choice for a beach wedding. And I just love the wild, unstructured bouquets florists are creating for today’s brides, don’t you?
As always a big thank-you to Toni and Natalie! If you can’t wait for the next Bouquet Recipe, which I will be sharing in a couple of weeks, you can always take a peek at their last one which was the prettiest just-picked posy in a palette of pinks or pop and see this lush Spring boho-vintage inspiration shoot which is packed full of beautiful florals by Toni.
