Blacktie & Bliss – New Year’s Eve Wedding Inspiration in Black & Gold
Tomorrow Mr E and I celebrate our 3rd anniversary! That’s right New Year’s Eve 2010 (2 months before we moved to the other side of the world) in the late afternoon of a snowy December, as the sun started to set we were exchanging our vows. Words can’t describe the joy of that day, even now those memories make me smile and give me goosebumps….and I love that we get to celebrate each year with the passing of one year and the beginning of the next. We can look back, not only on all that has happened in the year that has come and gone, but the years we have been Mr and Mrs; all we have achieved together and how we have grown together. I am of course completely biased (and I do believe I said the same thing last year) but there honestly is no better time to become husband and wife! Need convincing?……

New Year’s Eve is all about celebrations and what better excuse for a big bash than a NYE Wedding! Pull out all the stops and go for full on glam I say, after all when will you ever get this kind of chance to again? A colour palette of black, gold and ivory is a classic for a reason; timeless elegance and opulence is always in fashion. Think tux and black tie for the groom, full on glamour and glitz for your ladies (there might be something you like in this post), a dance floor packed with your nearest and dearest and a truly rip roaring rendition of Auld Lang Syne! Plus an anniversary date no-one can forget 🙂

This stylishly simple colour palette will compliment and work with any era, so for your wedding dress go with your heart, whether it be flapper fabulous or swinging 60s. Go Art Deco (the biggest trend of 2013 thanks to The Great Gatsby) with a wedding dress from the designer who epitomises the era like no other Jenny Packham……
Or for a more modern, but equally glamorous and romantic look take a peek at the elaborately embellished designs of Elie Saab for Pronovias – they would be sure to knock any grooms socks off!…..
Or to keep you a little more snug on a snowy NYE a chic cape or sleeves…..
I can see a hint of that unforgettable dress worn by Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, in his Monet design with its long lace sleeves…..
Or, because I love (and long to see) brides bold enough to wear some colour on their wedding day, I couldn’t resist sharing this shimmering design from Monique Lhuillier…..
Are any of you planning or considering a NYE wedding? Or have you ever been to a NYE wedding? I am always on the look out for fellow NYE brides, but am yet to meet one. What do you love about the idea of a NYE wedding or what puts you off choosing such a date? I know when planning ours it was much easier than I ever thought it would be when I set my heart on the date.
This year Mr E and I are celebrating not only our anniversary but also a new addition to our little family in the shape of this little fella (our new puppy Bodie) I am more than just a little excited so you are sure to see more of him on Chic Vintage Brides over the coming weeks.
