Gorgeous Vintage Bridal Gowns from Gossamer
Oh I am so excited about today’s post! You might have glimpsed over the last few weeks, if you follow Chic Vintage Brides on Facebook and Pinterest, some of the most exquisite vintage wedding dresses you ever will – I mean seriously, seriously stunning! (and at a steal of a price for their age and beauty); many of which came from the subject today’s post. In fact, it would be fair to say that I have been completely smitten (verging on obsessed) ever since I discovered Gossamer, first stumbling across the store on Etsy and then the fabulous new website. But I would defy anyone who loves vintage fashion, not to fall head over heels for this little one woman company. So, with this new found love, you can imagine my excitement when Emme, the super talented lady behind Gossamer, emailed me to see if I would like to share her latest look book (there may have been some actual squealing with delight!) Just take a look at this and I think you’ll see why…..
Gossamer is a vintage shop without equal. Named after the mostly gossamer fabrics sold within, it started in early 2013 (yep, only a year ago – but already with almost 10,000 followers on Instagram) born of a deep love for clothing and design, by the lovely Emme. “Originally, I was a fashion photographer and eventually, I progressed to taking fine art wedding photographs. Taking pictures of the bride’s dress has always been one of my favorite part of a wedding and I’ve always held a deep love for clothing as long as I can remember. One day, after reaching an epiphany, I bit the bullet and made buying and selling vintage clothing my full-time job. It’s been life-changing ever since and the clients I’ve came across have been nothing short of creative and amazing. I now get to combine my love for photography and clothing!”
Today Emme flies all over the States selecting the most beautiful garments for her site based on design, fabric, rarity, and lasting style. Each piece is then hand-washed, major flaws repaired, and finally steamed for photographs. And you should see the photographs – now I know Emme’s background, I completely understand how each and every one manages to take my breath away! Whilst the studio photographs of her pieces clearly do the trick, nothing hangs about for long at Gossamer! Emme decided to do something a little different to really showcase her collection and talents for this season pulling together this oh so pretty shoot with fabulous dresses and flowers galore…..”This shoot is my Spring/Summer Look Book featuring pieces ranging from the Edwardian period to current fashion. My pieces are all one-offs so you’ll rarely see the same things twice. I hope CVB readers like it!” – I am confident you will more than like it!…..
See? How lovely is that flower crown?? Mind you I would be hard pushed to choose between that and the glorious vintage wax blossom tiara below…..
If you love this look as much as I do, Gossamer has the most incredible collection of wax crowns and tiaras dating from the 1920s to the 1950s!
It certainly isn’t just bridal gowns and accessories that Gossamer stocks though! Oh no, the site is packed full of dresses from all eras in the prettiest of colours, like this lovely sequin number in blush…..
A little bit Jenny Packham-esque don’t you think? Utterly modern but with a hint of art deco. Emme’s collection of dresses, capes, lingerie and accessories are heavenly, but the wedding dresses, well they really are something else!
A big thank-you to Emme for giving me this opportunity to share her Spring Summer look book with you. You can see her full collection on the Gossamer website – but you must follow her on Facebook and Instagram to be the first to glimpse her latest finds because they really don’t hang about for long!
