Greenery Filled Rustic Vintage Wedding Inspiration from Greece
SOTIRIS TSAKANIKASToday we’re being taken all the way to the city of Syros in Greece, with this oh-so-romantic wedding editorial set in a turn of the 20th century textile factory – a venue far more breathtaking than it sounds! Inspired by their location the creative team incorporated items from the factory; bobbins, spindles, needles, textile books, sewing machines, fabrics, and looms, to beautiful effect. Brimming with greenery, that compliments the neutral color palette so perfectly, you can’t be anything but completely captivated by it!
By way of a proper introduction, here are a few words about this shoot from the team….. “Threads, fabrics, lace were our basic elements. An embroidered stationery suite. Brown thread on off-white cotton cloth. Garlands with white roses and eucalyptus leaves draped elegantly over a wooden table added the element of nature missing from the factory. We gathered various old chairs. We created a long table with workbenches that we kept untouched to maintain the image of their aged and tired surfaces.
The 40’s porcelain dishes, painted with an oily color and golden designs were in keeping with the green garland. Embroidery threads from Dimitris’ collection and retro glasses and cutlery with golden details made the table setting unique. Rose Loukoumia, a traditional sweet of Syros, with its covering of powdered sugar was delicately placed in retro cut glass bowls. White candles added a warm touch to the room while the classic bistro lights made the setting like a fairytale.
We chose a Yolan Cris wedding dress. A mix of different French laces stitched on an A line that fell loosely and delicately to the floor. The bride’s bouquet consisted of various species of eucalyptus, as well as astilbe or ‘false goat’s beard’, lisianthus, and roses in a relaxed formation. The groom’s suit in a navy blue combined with a checkered waistcoat and a blue bow tie lent him the appearance of a classy gentleman.
The wedding cake also followed the colors of the space. White, gold and beige – with gray watercolor detailing. With the backdrop of exposed firebricks, their presence and strength proving the impossible possible.”
Isn’t it just lovely?? I am so in love with the muted palette, and who would have thought an old Cotton factory could make such a perfect wedding venue?!
