Today we’re stepping back in time to the turn of the 20th century and the Belle Époque, with this oh-so-romantic bridal editorial. Inspired by one of my favourite periods, the Edwardian era (think season one of Downton Abbey!), it is elegant to the extreme. Brimming with lush blooms, silk ribbons, calligraphy and the most heavenly braided updo, you can’t be anything but completely captivated by it!

Oh and don’t even get me started on the incredible gowns! Created by one of my favourite designers  Joanne Fleming  (you can see another of her dresses in this enchanting Venice elopement) they are beyond romantic, and truly bring the whole shoot to life.

By way of a proper introduction, here are a few words from Jana and Dmitry of Verona Lain – who not only styled the shoot to perfection, but also captured it in their dreamy fine art photography…..  “The shoot has been inspired by the Edwardian era and its hedonistic lifestyle. The main idea was to keep this project as minimal as possible, focusing mostly on the emotional part of the shoot and its details. We have divided our shoot into two parts – a bright and a dark one, to show two sides of one personality. We also tried to experiment a little by adding some double exposure and blurred movement shots. All effects were made in camera using Kodak Portra 400 medium format film.”

Isn’t it exquisite?? I love the Art Nouveau inspired updo and that stunning gown in the light part of the shoot. And the colors in the bouquet in the dark part of the shoot are just so perfect for Fall!
