Chartreuse & Champagne – Autumn Wedding Inspiration In Shades of Green & Champagne
Good morning, and how was your weekend? Mine, I spent feeling all inspired by the turning of the leaves in the park and that low, warm sunlight that can only mean one thing – Autumn is on its way! As with my Spring wedding inspiration from a couple of weeks back, I decided to look past the colours traditionally associated with the season, those unmistakably Fall deep yellows, burnt oranges and rich reds and instead picked the colours of early Autumn, before the leaves fall from the tree……

My inspiration for this board did come almost entirely from that first photo by Lucy Spartalis of Claire in her beautiful vintage bridal gown. I love everything about it – the light, the colours and of course that dress! Warm muted tones of champagne, linen and very pale peach form the base of this palette, infused with shades of chartreuse and just flashes of chestnut brown – perfect for the groom, especially those wanting to embrace that key 2014 country gentleman trend. For the decor think opulence but with a hint of rustic charm. Inspired by nature I see lots of greenery, foliage and fruit in the floral arrangements, and tables laden with candles for the evening, to mirror the warm low light of the day and to ensure festivities continue long into the night.

Influenced by those beautiful Edwardian Peridot earrings from Trumpet & Horn I do think this palette is perfect for some old world charm. For the wedding dress I see lots of pretty lace like this stunner from Jenny Yoo for BHLDN, with its glints of glimmering gold thread…..
Or swathes of shimmering silk like this Catherine Deane design, also for BHLDN, with its pearl embellished bodice…..
Or a mixture of the two with this stunning dress from Twigs & Honey…..

Of course, as the sun gets lower the temperature drops and if you don’t like the idea of covering your wedding dress with a cape or jacket then you might be grateful for some elegant long sleeves like on these designs from Claire Pettibone…..

So, what do you think, the perfect Autumn shades? And would you go cardi, cape or sleeves?
