Black, White & Red Minimalist Wedding Inspiration
Lindsay Blair PhotographyToday’s simply stunning wedding editorial was inspired by an old joke no less! But with a contemporary minimalist feel, gorgeous florals in rich shades, an oh-so-cool airstream bar INSIDE the venue and a truly wow cake; it is sure to have you swooning rather than laughing!
The lovely Cindy of Peachy Keen Coordination, the lady with the vision, shared these words about the inspiration for the shoot and the many beautiful details…. “We really wanted to create something unique in this historic space to celebrate it’s venture to become an event space, but also respect the former use of the space. Because this was a former Register Guard paper location, I had the idea to design the shoot around the classic joke ‘what’s black and white and red/read all over…..a newspaper!’ This was accomplished by utilizing pretty exclusively black and white, with shades of red — including a striking groom’s suit!
Our paper suite was intentionally designed with a minimalistic approach and handpressed by Type A Press. It was then paired with some writings from an older magazine and photo publications.
Our florals from Seeds of Clay were ALL created onsite — including the bridal bouquet — due to being created from strategic foraging. No foam was utilized for any creations but instead an eco friendly option: chicken coop wiring for structure. Because of this approach, everything was created to be loose, and flowing. We wanted the florals to look like they had emerged from the ground of the historic space rather than creating something too overtly posh and precise.
We wanted people to realize how fashion forward the groom can be next to his bride. We went for something a bit different with a textured red checked suit with a slick silk collar and red tie. The red was carried over into the bridal look by incorporating this into her eyes in lieu of the traditional black smokey eye. We then blinged the couple out with jewelry from MiaDonna and also adorned the bride with some unique pieces from Eden Luxe Bridal — including a veil with black lace and tiara with black gemstones.
Our tablescape was designed to be minimalist whilst the cheesecloth runner down the center helped to soften the space. And our cake was an absolute show stopper with three tiers of red velvet and double chocolate cake complete with speckles, vertical drips coming from the top AND bottom. I won’t lie when I say it tasted just as beautiful as it photographed. I’ve never seen another cake like this in my life!”
