20 Perfect Hair Accessories for the Art Deco Loving Bride

I enjoyed our recent saunter through the seasons. So much so in fact that I have decided to continue with the themed Snippets, Whispers & Ribbons (our little weekly roundups). And what could be a better subject for this new series of posts, than the gorgeous eras we’re all so in love with? Each week I’ll be looking at a key part of styling your day – from the stationery, to the bouquet as well as bridal, bridesmaids and grooms attire; sharing the very best ways to re-create the looks for your modern vintage wedding. Of course, I could hardly kick off with any other era than my absolute favourite, Art Deco, especially after yesterday’s fabulous post – I hope you saw it! So, today’s post is packed full of the most perfect bridal hair accessories for all of you Gatsby inspired glamour pusses out there…….

25 Perfect Art Deco Bridal Hair Accessories

The Art Deco era was a time of optimism and prosperity, it was the jazz age full of glitz and sparkle; a period of fun and frivolity, that introduced short skirts, bobbed hair and marcel waves into fashion. It was the era of the prohibition and seductive speakeasies, flappers dancing the Charlston and screen sirens sashaying across the silver screen.

Whilst brides of the era would have worn orange blossom or wax flower crowns atop juliet cap veils, with only the very richest affording the diamond tiaras and adornments we often associate with the period; modern vintage brides can evoke the era and channel their inner Daisy Buchanan by wearing any of the accessories en vogue from feather adorned side headpieces, and juliet cap veils to flapper inspired forehead bands.

What makes the perfect Art Deco hair accessory? Go roaring 20s, glitz and Gatsby glamour with feathers, sunburst designs, geometric shapes, and diamante drops and swags. But there was another side to the Art Deco era, which has been brought to life recently by the wonderful Downton Abbey. It was an time of opulence, flappers, fun and frivolity yes; but it was also an era of elegance. Think graceful lace veils, crowns and delicate embellishments for a more simple and refined look. Whether you’re a Lady Mary or a Daisy Buchanan, or a bit of both!, you will find the perfect bridal hair accessory for your big day amongst these 20 beauties…..
