Wedding Bouquet Recipe

A Soft & Whimsical White Bouquet

Good morning lovelies! I knew there was only one post I could share today after starting the week yesterday in such a magical way, with that snowy Winter wonderland wedding (do take a look here if you missed it, it really is a must see) and that is with a beautifully whimsical bridal bouquet recipe. This time florist and stylist extraordinaire Toni McGregor from Magdalen Hill helped identify the blooms and recipe for one of your favourite bouquets on Pinterest. And my oh my do you have good taste, because this white bridal bouquet may be simple in colour but it is absolutely breathtaking!…..

Created by McKenzie Powell for a wedding that simply oozed Art Deco glamour (which you can see more of  here on photographer Kim Smith Miller‘s blog) this bouquet perfectly epitomises modern vintage to me. I love how the flowers look as though they could have been picked from an English cottage garden and that bride Zora has paired her glamorous Jenny Packham gown with this relaxed bouquet, so full of texture, rather than a more formal posy.

Toni says”Soft and whimsical, this hand-tied bouquet is full of exquisite Spring treasures.  The scent of the lilac and hyacinths is as enchanting as the floating movement created by the jasmine vine.  Increasingly popular, horizontal bouquets are perfect for the Vintage-Boho bride, as they provide a slightly deconstructed, ‘just picked’ feel, as well as giving a nod to the bouquets of yesteryear.  Blooms grouped together add to that freshly picked vibe, with textures enhanced by the use of monochromatic whites.  Long tails of contrasting ribbons are a great way to link the bouquet to other key components of the wedding, such as bridesmaids’ dresses, although I like to also imagine a fabulous pair of shoes peeking out below the gown!” Oooh yes, me too Toni! And I love ribbons on a bouquet, not only are they a great way to tie-in your bouquet to your colour scheme, they also look so opulent and create the illusion of a cascading bouquet.

3 Stems of Hyacinth

2 stems of white spray roses

2 stems Queen Anne’s Lace

Foliage: Ivy and Ivy berries

A bouquet for the Bride who: A bouquet in this style is very versatile.  It’s a beautifully relaxed choice for a bride planning a beach or garden wedding, but is also elegant enough for more formal surroundings.

Ask your florist for: A deconstructed, garden-style horizontal bouquet, with blooms that appear to have just been picked and grouped together.

Season Available: The flowers featured in this bouquet are generally available in Spring, however there are seasonal blooms that could be substituted to achieve the same look.  Discuss the alternatives with your florist.

Oooh I really do adore a white bouquet, they’re just so elegant. Speak of which, did you see the Scentful Spring Bridal Bouquet Toni shared with us last time?? It was just so pretty!

A big thank-you to Toni as always for her expert eye and advice. She will be back with more (lots more!) bouquet recipes in the New Year!
