Inspiration Shoots

Sweet 1950s Inspired Wedding Ideas in Lavender & Green by Wendy Cooper Photography

Ooh today’s wedding inspiration shoot from Wendy Cooper Photography is just so super sweet! An adorable take on the modern vintage wedding, it is infused with mid-century details, including the most heavenly vintage tea length wedding dress, but in shades of lavender and purple mixed with a juicy lime green that has a distinctly modern edge. Fun, flirty and utterly delightful I am sure it will have you smitten…..

I want to jump head first into sharing every fabulous detail, but first a word or two from Wendy “This shoot was inspired by an Icecream Social invitation that was sent to me by Abany Bauer of Brown Linen Design. I thought that an Icecream Social was a great idea for a wedding celebration, and this was a perfect shoot for summer! My best friend, stylist and sidekick, John Hager and I collect Depression glass, and we had these green Depression glass ice cream dishes, so I designed the shoot around that green. What a challenge! But I love the color with the lavender.

In addition, my aunt Rosalea is a vintage clothing specialist, and she acquired the stunning vintage wedding dress online for me to design a shoot around, and this seemed to be the perfect fit since the Depression glass is also vintage. John Hager made the lavender ice cream and the lovely cake. My studio is above the cutest boutique in Cape Girardeau, Annie Em’s at Home, and Emilie Stephens the owner, who has a great eye, helped up style with furnishings from her store. I designed the bouquet, and incorporated gorgeous plant-dyed silk ribbon from Silk and Willow for a little extra romance. I picked up some lovely succulents to add to the décor, as well as some delectable macaroons from La Patisserie Chouquette in St. Louis. To add to the details, I found the vintage headpiece and the vintage green-striped napkins from the antique shop across from my studio—Pastimes Antiques. We then found the amazing vintage car from a collector in town and set up the shoot in the courtyard of one of the prettiest historic buildings downtown. Our lovely model found the perfect green shoes, and CP McGinty Jewelers loaned up the amazing vintage-style jewelry and the stunning engagement ring.”

I am going to let Wendy‘s fabulous photography do the talking from here. Just be sure to have your pinning finger at the ready……
