Top Ten Wedding Dress Trends for 2014 – Part I
Good morning! I hope everyone enjoyed a fabulous weekend and is ready for the start of a new week. I was strangely eager when my alarm went off this Monday morning, thanks to today’s post. I LOVE wedding dresses! Now, that may be considered something of an obvious pre-requisite for a wedding blogger, but I mean really really LOVE wedding dresses! I have always dreamed of owning my own bridal boutique, from as young an age as I can remember, just so that I can spend the day quaffing champagne and twirling in front of full length mirrors in every dress on the rail (not at all how boutique owners spend their day, I realise now). So you see, any CVB post featuring 27 of the most fabulous frocks from the 2014 collections was always going to be a fave of mine! And so it is with great pleasure I unveil my pick of the 10 Top Wedding Dress Trends for 2014 (or at least the first 5 of them – part II to follow tomorrow)….. in no particular order…..
Capes
I ADORE this trend (it even made it into my Top 5 Trends for 2014 – in case you missed that post you can see it here) perfect for Fall and Winter a feather or knitted cape to keep away the nip in the air, or think delicate lace for a Spring or Summer Wedding. Capes create a demure look, a unique silhouette and better still, removing one gives you a completely new look for the reception without the expense of a second dress!…..
Or some designers went with the illusion of a cape with sweet loose cap sleeves…..

Colour
The 2014 bridal catwalks were awash with colour pretty pale and ombre pinks, romantic blush, glimmering gold and silver, along with glimpses of blue and red – you can imagine my glee! I have long loved brides bold enough to shy away from the traditional shades of white and this year brides can embrace their unconventional side with any one of these beauties ……
And of course you can always trust one designer to push the boundary for bridal design, Vera Wang’s Fall 2014 Collection was a veritable rose garden of the most beautiful shades of petal, rose, coral, and peony…….

Trousers
Having earlier in this post proclaimed my love of wedding dresses, I now must confess to having been adamant that I would walk down the aisle in a suit early in our engagement. Not because I didn’t adore every dress I saw, but because I felt (before I had even tried any on) that they wouldn’t adore me. 3 year ago I was easily swayed (a scoff from a friend and a Jenny Packham waved under my nose and resistance was futile) today however things may well have been different! Glorious trouser suits and jumpsuits popped up all over the catwalks of 2014 and have wowed the wedding world with just how becoming and bridal they can look……

Floral Details
Flowers are big for 2014 (quite literally in Vera Wang’s fall collection) Enchanting adornments, appliques, embellishments and lace all featured flowers in the collections of the top designers. Blooms, whether bold or delicate create the most romantic and alluring finish, transforming gowns into gardens……

Chic and Short
Short wedding dresses have never been so chic (I wonder how much Miss Knightley’s, or rather Mrs Righton‘s, beautifully relaxed attire is responsible) Perfect for the diminutive bride or those who want something a little different, a short wedding dress offers a contemporary twist on the traditional floor length gown for the fashion forward bride, and gives you the chance to show off your fabulous footwear! Keep your look demure by going knee length or below…..

Part II with the rest of my Top Ten Wedding Dress Trends for 2014 will be along tomorrow….any thoughts (or wishes) of what they might be? What do you think of today’s trends, any favourites? I think mine would have to be the Cape!
