A Showstopping Floral Wedding in Rich Fall Shades
DANA FERNANDEZ PHOTOGRAPHYI don’t even know where to begin with today’s couple and their beautiful wedding! Bride Betsy’s inspiration for the day were rich fall colors with pops of gold. And loving watercolor, calligraphy and florals she decided to incorporate all three into their celebration, all to breathtaking effect…..
Also, Betsy and Joel are very sentimental and wanted their personalities to shine through in what they wore and gave each other, and to be shared with each of their guests on their wedding day. So they filled their romantic celebration with heartfelt, meaningful details and thoughtful presents – for guests as well as their bridal party – making their day unforgettable in every way!
Betsy wore a custom engraved gold cuff with their wedding date as well as heirloom pieces from her grandmother and had pictures of loved ones no longer with us, each individually framed in small frames and tied to her bouquet. And since they had a lot of out of town guests, each one received a welcome bag with information about Texas and was filled with all of their favorite snacks and goodies.
Betsy shared “When we started planning our day, we kept in mind what was most important. All the little details were important to me, but we tried to remember what this day was really about.
My vision was romantic with lots of details! I knew I wanted jewel tones and lots of gold elements. I gave each of my vendors a general feeling of the wedding and I let them go with it. Each of them came together to make every single detail perfect.”
“I felt beautiful on my wedding day! The dress I wore (at Brickhouse Bridal and by Pronovias) was the last dress I tried on and was chosen by the salesperson. But I loved it! I wore a bracelet with our wedding date engraved on it, a diamond bracelet of my grandmothers, and a blue jeweled ring from my grandmother.”
“Our florists, Blush and Vine, were amazing! I found them through our photographer, Dana Fernandez. I chose them because their bouquets are not the traditional, or formal, tight bouquet. They are flowy, romantic, and beautiful.”
As for their gifts to each other, they each secretly consulted with Nib and Pixel to create a unique gift with their vows to each other incorporated. Joel’s present to Betsy was a custom hand drawn 4 foot banner with a space to thread a rod so it can hang in their new home together. And since Joel loves cigars, Betsy had her vows custom written and engraved on the lid of a humidor. Along side some cigars for Joel to enjoy on the wedding day, she had custom labels wrapped around cigars for every major milestone of their life (wedding day, first home, first child, anniversaries, etc).
One of my favorite parts of the day though was the gift that Betsy’s father gave Joel. When Betsy was a child, her father gifted her a heart necklace and at the reception, her father gave Joel the matching key, which he had been saving for Betsy’s future husband.
“The best part of our wedding day was the group of people in the room. We had people travel from 9 different states outside of Texas and 6 different countries outside of the USA. This was the first and most likely last time we will get to experience our closest loved ones from around the world in one room. The energy in the room was just incredible. I will never forget how loved and elated I felt that day!
Another favorite memory was my grandmother, Maw Maw tearing up the dance floor. She passed away unexpectedly just 2 months after the wedding. We have so many wonderful photos and memories of her on that day.”
“Each guest got a small drink holder that contained a “Midnight Snack” – 1 small botle of topo chico, 1 small bottle of coke or diet coke, and 2 small bags of popcorn (ordered from Emma’s popcorn in PA). Just a couple of Joel and I’s favorite treats!”
“I knew I wanted a BIG cake! I go to weddings for the cake (duh!) so I wanted it to taste delicious, too. The main bridal cake by Kiss The Cook Cakes was 5 tiers and included brushed gold details and fresh florals. In lieu of a traditional groom’s cake, we decided to have 2 cakes on either side of our main cake which were created by Maple and Love. “
Pearls of wedding wisdom from the bride…
“Choosing a great photographer is so important because after the wedding day all you have are the memories and photographs/videos.
And trust your vendors!! Let them be creative because afterall, that’s what they are best at!“
