Happy 2012 to one and all! And oh what better way for CVB to begin the new year than by introducing the incredible latest collection of one of Australia’s greatest designers – Johanna Johnson!

Johanna Johnson has established a reputation for creating gowns revered for their unique mix of old Hollywood glamour and modern sophistication and ‘The Luxor’ is no exception. Focusing on timeless elegance, luxurious fabrics and hand finished detailing – ‘re-igniting the romance and craftsmanship of yesteryear’, it could possibly be her greatest collection yet!

I realise it hasn’t been all that long since I first posted about The Old Hollywood Glamour and Exquisite Embellishment from Johanna Johnson, which featured her Templar Collection, but I do believe the cut and the details of this collection are, if possible, even more breathtaking!

My absolute favourite is The Mae, a stunning, softly bias cut, satin gown that flows into a gentle fishtail, with cap sleeves and belted waist, it is a definite nod to the glamorous starlets of the 1940s – I could so easily see Joan Crawford sashaying on set in The Mae……

Of a very similar design but with delicate lace replacing sumptuous satin, The Rosa is quite simply breathtaking……

The soft cut of The Lotus with its loose draping tied beautifully at the waist, to the side is the epitome of understated elegance……

As always, the craftsmanship and styling has been considered from every angle. The back of design The Ellery with its gorgeous low V, elegantly embellished with swarovski crystals……

is almost as beautiful as the front with it’s sophisticated bateau neckline and waist detail.

The detail is all on the back of the ethereal The Edie – with its ribbons of satin and delicate beadwork……

With its dropped waist, art deco inspired embellishments and round neckline The Odetta takes me back to the 1920s……

And the back is equally as exquisite…..

The London has a hint of the flapper girl, with its intricate all over beading, but its strapless bodice gives it a relaxed modern feel……
