Romantique – Claire Pettibone’s New 2015 Collection
Claire Pettibone has long been the queen of ethereal elegance and romance – who could forget her Still Life and Decoupage collections? Breathtaking Edwardian inspired visions; brimming with gowns of lace, adorned with fancy floral appliques. ‘Romantique‘, her 2015 collection however, channels a far more free-spirited, dare I say 1970s vibe? Think boho with a hint of gypsy glamour – but without losing any of the romance we have come to associate with the inimitable designer.
I do so love it when designers take a risk and dip their toes into a new style! Claire calls Romantique “A little Moroccan villa, a touch English garden – timeless with a vintage vibe.” which perfectly describes the eclectic, relaxed feel of the collection. Alongside the dramatic re-embroidered lace and appliques that are so unequivocally Claire Pettibone, Romantique features simple cotton, crepe and flowing chiffon gowns, with billowing blouson and flutter sleeves. Undeniably different to past CP collections, it is no less feminine or pretty. Just take a look…..
As with the unveiling of all of Claire’s past offerings, almost as much attention to detail has been paid to the design and styling of the catwalk show as to the collection itself. Nearly bare-foot models, sashaying down the rug strewn runway with their long, loose tresses crowned with gypsophila just so perfectly conveys the relaxed, bohemian charm of ‘Romantique’.
Of course no Claire Pettibone collection would be complete without the striking silhouettes and beautiful back details that have become her signature. And long-time lovers of her style will not be disappointed with the latest designs to be offered…..
But beautiful backs or off the shoulder flutter sleeves, ‘Romantique’ definitely has a distinctly more boho, beach-babe vibe than previous Claire Pettibone collections, which I think will result in a bevy of new CP brides next year. I can just seem them all, floating down the aisle like Aphrodite…..
My favourite from this collection? The long lace sleeved Patchouli, I just love the re-embroidered lace…..
Isn’t it lovely? What do you think of the ‘Romantique’ collection? Still distinctly Claire Pettibone, but with added Boho! Oh my goodness how perfect will these billowing sleeves be for a festival inspired wedding, perhaps with a little of my latest obsession glamping?!
