Boho Vintage Weddings
An Unforgettable Auckland Wedding
Oh I have such a treat of a real wedding for you today! I was lost the moment I glimpsed these gorgeous images from Jill Andrews, who captured the beauty and love of Elysia and John’s wedding day so perfectly…..
It goes without saying that I adore Elysia’s pretty ethereal style – in her Sera Lilly dress and Rue de Seine floral crown she is an angel; the emerald and white polka dot bridesmaids dresses are super cute and complimented perfectly by those contrasting burgundy platforms and gorge-ous vintage furs (more on them later). And John and his groomsmen couldn’t look more dapper in their navy blazers and bow-ties….there’s a lot to love about this wedding, but its not the flawless fashion or details that make this wedding unforgettable, it is the love visible in every moment – all caught by the consummate Jill Andrews.
‘John and Elysia were married on a crisp August day in Auckland, and their wedding was a lot of fun to shoot! They are such a down to earth, relaxed couple who are so clearly in love. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day!! ‘
From the enchanting bride herself Elysia: ‘John and I are still studying at university, so we knew we would be doing a wedding on a budget! In the end we feel that this made the whole thing even more wonderful. It became a bit of a ‘community’ wedding, with lots of people helping out just by doing what they’re good at. We had to be creative, making use of people’s DIY skills and beautiful things which they allowed us to borrow. On the day, it felt like a big collaboration that so many people had been a part of from the start.’
The happy couple made sure they never forgot what was important on their big day ‘We both wanted to look back on a day of plenty of fun and laughs which truly reflected us, so we went into it knowing that there’s no such thing as a perfect wedding day, and focused on what mattered the most – making the greatest decision of our lives in the company of all our best friends and family.’
Aren’t those bridesmaids ensembles just the epitome of glamour? It is the provenance of the vintage furs that makes them really perfect though – all of the shawls and shrugs were borrowed from various grandmothers, which made them all the more special.
Elysia & John thank-you for letting me share your beautiful wedding on CVB – and for proving that to create a truly unforgettable wedding, you just need to remember what’s important! Wishing you every happiness for the future.
And many thanks to Jill for letting me showcase your exquisite work! I look forward to many more Jill Andrews weddings 🙂
So, what’s the most important thing to you on your wedding day?
