A Chic Red, White & Blue Colour Palette for a 4th of July Wedding

I have a little something seasonal and special for you today. In celebration of the holiday, in a classic colour palette of red, white and blue, some chic Summer wedding inspiration just perfect for the 4th July!

You may recognise the colour palette from these 10 Summer stunners, and whilst it may be the quintessential colour palette for a Summer wedding thanks to its nautical undertones, I wanted to show it can be elegant and romantic as well. You see red, white and blue doesn’t have to be stars, stripes and anchors, even for a 4th of July wedding – it can be roses, calligraphy and suits!

The key to this palette looking pretty and modern is to keep your colours in blocks – don’t try to get all 3 colours into every detail, instead choose one for each, and keep a good balance throughout! So think delicate blue stationery with bold red envelopes, red bridesmaids dresses and blue bridal shoes. Keep your tablescape understated with white china and add colour with your glasses and napkins. Mix a few shades of red in your florals with plenty of foliage (a top trend for 2016) and pops of soft ivory for a touch of refined luxury. Give extra depth to this simple colour palette through texture and elegant details – don’t you just LOVE that velvet ring box? And that red velvet naked wedding cake is simply stunning!

Of course for the groom it can be nothing but a sleek navy blue suit! Pair it with a crisp white dress shirt and a red floral boutonniere for a timelessly elegant look – poppies, anemones, ranunculus and roses all come in the perfect shade of red. And for a 4th of July wedding I couldn’t resist sneaking a star spangled banner in there in the form of those cute socks for the groom and groomsmen.

If you adore this colour scheme but don’t fancy a holiday wedding you’re in luck because such a pretty palette would be just as perfect for any date in the summer. It’s also super versatile and would look as beautiful for a barn, garden or church wedding as it would for a mountainside or beach wedding!
