Heirlooms of the Future – Vintage Brooch Bouquets from Noaki
I adored my bridal bouquet and I can still smell it now if I close my eyes…… ivory roses and freesias will always take me back to NYE 2010! But I was devastated when New years Day I awoke to find my perfect ivory roses tinged with brown (as all roses do when out of water for a day) And 2 weeks later, when the very last flower had died and I had to throw it away, I could have cried – I didn’t want anything from that magical day to go out with the rubbish!
So I absolutely love the work of Noaki! Saving brides from this unnecessary post wedding day heartache creating vintage brooch bridal bouquets – and beautiful heirlooms of the future.
Unlike real flowers, the heirloom jewelled bouquets she creates will last long after the wedding – and can be passed down to future generations. Noaki works closely with each and every one of her brides and as well as incorporating the colour or theme of your wedding, she can even create the bouquet to include your family history, like a piece of your grandmother’s jewellery — the possibilities are endless.
The process starts with a conversation about the style of your wedding and the type of bouquet you’re looking for, including colours, and some indication of pieces to pick – about 40 to 50 pieces of jewellery are needed for a large bouquet. Then the bouquet is mapped out by Noaki and she wires in the jewellery, silk flowers and pearl or glass beads, before taking photos, as she approaches completion, to check you are happy.
For Noaki, it began when “I was trying to figure out what to do with pieces of my grandmother’s old jewelry that I’d held onto for decades — scraps of the forgotten excess of the Art Deco era that were too lovely to discard but too old- fashioned to wear. Eventually the pieces I created led to my little shop. “
The daughter of a fine arts painter and an industrial designer, she had a pretty eclectic upbringing, living for spells in Japan, France, India and England, her roots, however, are in California and it’s there, from her studio she recycles vintage jewellery and hand fashions each piece in to a bridal bouquet work of art.
Her work has already been featured on one of my favourite wedding blogs, Style Me Pretty and on Etsy the feedback has been incredible.
This lush heirloom brooch bouquet features silver and clear rhinestone jewellery against a mix of luxurious silk flowers. The large full white blooms have jewelled centres and rhinestones on the petals .
For a bride looking for a bouquet a little less glitzy however, these stunning bouquets features luxurious feathers alongside gorgeous silk flowers with vintage or vintage inspired jewelled centres and petals and leaves adorned with swarovski crystals. With the large flowers available in a variety of colours, they are perfect for any bride planning a vintage wedding.
I really love the idea that brides can now walk down the aisle with a bouquet that will last forever.
And the talented lady also creates bouquets that double up as a keepsake for your bridesmaids!
Thank-you Noaki!
Love
Amy
