Provence Chic – Romantic Wedding Inspiration in a Palette Inspired by Provence

Despite the fact it is Summer here in NZ, it has been something of a wet and miserable day today. So I thought with this week’s inspiration board I would whisk us all away to somewhere lovely – and warm! Inspired by the charming stone houses of Provence, with their pretty shuttered windows, I chose a palette of soft blues, blush and champagne and added a hint of Art Nouveau, for a wedding that positively brims with romance and has a certain je ne sais quoi!

Add a hint of gorgeous green and what palette could be more perfect for a wedding in Spring, Summer or any season? Think relaxed and rustic but with ethereal elegance and a little Art Nouveau splendour. Layer textures such as velvet, silk ribbons, lace and linen; and mix your metals (gold + silver or bronze = luxury) throughout your celebrations to create a feeling of opulence. Rich floral centrepieces and ornate silverware added to simple outdoor, family-style dining will make for a relaxed yet luxurious wedding breakfast. Bouquets lush with foliage, created with a just-picked look and tied with cascading ribbon will look lovely – and kept small won’t break the bank!

The Wedding Dress

This romantically soft palette is perfect if you want to shy away from the traditional and, like the bride in the inspiration board, opt for a delicate blush wedding dress. If you’re tempted to go with this dreamy alternative to ivory, how about one of the blush beauties from Monique Lhuillier…..

Or if you want to go ivory but still make a stylish statement with your dress, choose something with a portrait back that will have your guests gasping as you glide down the aisle. I LOVE Winne by Catherine Deane from BHLDN’s Spring 2015 Collection…..

It’s All In The Details

This is such a perfect palette for bridesmaids too! With soft shades of blue, blush, champagne or ivory, whichever colour you choose your bridesmaids are guaranteed to love – or go with all four and create the loveliest mismatched bridal party ever! Keep dresses long and graceful, fabrics floaty and updos soft for a hint of Edwardian elegance…..

If you’re looking for modern bridal shoes with a touch of olde world glamour, no-one does it better than Emmy London. Emmy’s signature hand beaded heels are breathtakingly beautiful and the epitome of decadence…..

Oh and, since they are THE bridal accessory of 2015 (according to the designers and their catwalks), I can’t wait to see more brides wearing crowns this year!
