Urban Fairytale Wedding Inspiration
Photography - The Paper ElephantToday’s magical styled shoot took place at The Box, a one-of- a-kind event venue located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, but was transformed into a whimsical woodland complete with moss covered toadstools and table, as a backdrop for an urban fairytale wedding. With more than a smattering of elegance thanks to the calligraphy stationery and the bride’s long lace sleeve dress; and no shortage of romance, reflected in the lush florals, the candlelit ceremony space and the black and white wedding cake, this editorial is truly breathtaking from start to finish….
Here’s a few words about what inspired this dreamy vision, from Danielle of Rosewood Weddings….. “My daughter and I were shopping our local garden center and came across a ‘fairy house’ kit for children. The kit immediately sparked a conversation and we walked the aisles discussing moss and what fairy wings might be made of.
On the drive home, I remembered when I was a little girl. I pulled patches of moss up from our sidewalk and held it high with two little sticks. I made fairy villages back then. The magic of fairies and fairytales is so real and, evidently, timeless. I was inspired to produce a moss and fairy-inspired styled shoot, set in the cream city brick-drenched background of our downtown.
Laurel, our florist, really ‘brought it’ that day. From her stunning, modern woodland bridal bouquet, highlighting a king protea, to the ridiculous fairy shoes she, quite literally, conjured up. And with a floral necklace & ring to match; it was all incredibly inventive.
The meringue mushrooms that our baker, Alexis, created were so authentic; and the black forest brownies were dusted with ‘mossy’ pistachio crumbs. She created a floral and romantic cake that also had a bit of a dark twist. Our couple cozied in this urban dessert nook with such a sensual vibe – like fairy mischief in a Midsummer Night’s Dream…. “
Isn’t it magical? I just love the idea of an urban fairytale (a woodland wedding in the city!), and how gorgeous is all that moss?? It really is such an utterly inspiring editorial. I can’t thank everyone involved behind the scenes enough, but especially to The Paper Elephant who captured it all so perfectly.
